Don Silsbe Posted June 7, 2024 Author Report Posted June 7, 2024 The ama boot stripes are done now. The owner wants these cubby bins on the sides of the platforms. They’re shaping up, too. Quote
Don Silsbe Posted June 12, 2024 Author Report Posted June 12, 2024 Painting, painting, painting! Quote
Don Silsbe Posted June 20, 2024 Author Report Posted June 20, 2024 The owner suggested we use Kiwigrip non-skid finish. I was game. This is a great product! It is easy to apply. The level of aggressiveness can be adjusted. We chose a more aggressive pattern. To calm it down a touch, we may take some 120 grit paper to it, to knock off the peaks. It is a water-based product. PadrePoint Posted June 21, 2024 Report Posted June 21, 2024 Pick up by the owner coming soon?? It REALLY looks nice, Don. Quote
Don Silsbe Posted June 22, 2024 Author Report Posted June 22, 2024 @PadrePoint Not soon enough! LOL. I have started attaching hardware, and assembling loose parts. Quote
Don Silsbe Posted June 29, 2024 Author Report Posted June 29, 2024 Getting close to being done! Quote
Don Silsbe Posted June 30, 2024 Author Report Posted June 30, 2024 Some neighbors came over yesterday, and helped me install the centerboard and attach the amas. This is "Tweak Week". They come to get her on Friday. Quote
Captain Tim Posted June 30, 2024 Report Posted June 30, 2024 After all your fine work are you going to get a chance to sail her? Quote
Don Silsbe Posted July 3, 2024 Author Report Posted July 3, 2024 That’s the funny thing. No, I will not get to sail her. I live in the foothills of North Carolina. The owner lives in Dallas, TX. That’s a long way for me to travel for a sailboat ride. Quote
Chick Ludwig Posted July 3, 2024 Report Posted July 3, 2024 Shore looks purty!!! Great job. You should sneak in a sail before they come. Quote
Don Silsbe Posted July 4, 2024 Author Report Posted July 4, 2024 She is DONE! It’s being picked up tomorrow morning. Hurray! Quote

I couldn't have found a better builder, his skills were matched by his integrity and his imagination in the design and improvisation segments of which there were several. If it didn't turn out perfect he redid it. We didn't always agree on things, but we would video conference and work out our differences. It's hard to find a close working relationship a thousand miles away. So, my dream boat is done and I give many thanks to Don for making the dream come to reality. Quote
Don Silsbe Posted July 10, 2024 Author Report Posted July 10, 2024 Thank you, David. You were a pleasure to work with. Quote
messingdd97 Posted July 15, 2024 Report Posted July 15, 2024 Beautiful job on the boat. Congrats for getting it done! 1 Quote
