I would start by using a table saw. set the blade for 45 degrees and take the corners off the stock. Then use a belt sander to take the corners off of the resulting piece. This would give you a 2" thick octagonal boom. Which by the way strikes me as a little beefy for the application.

I'm thinking that you just shim up one end of your joists. Dont' bother cutting them. How uneven is your slab?

I believe the runestone was debunked when examined by Swedish linguists. Apparently the language carved on the stone is not appropriate to the 1500's. Also there a number of second hand accounts that the person who "discovered" the runestone confessed to the hoax. There is good evidence of some sort of commerce well down the east coast of the current US. A viking coin was discovered at the bottom of a well used by natives of the era.

Many paint stores will recycle, or properly dispose of all sorts of solvents and paint. The city in which I live maintains a web site directing folks to various local privately operated disposal / recycling services.

Most of your hull panels have some sort of bend to them. If you fiberglass first they will be much stiffer and may not bend the way that you require.

I am partial to the bateau designs. The AD14 and AD16 have a minimal cabin. The VG18 is a large day sailer with cabin. The VG18 accomodations are better than that offered by the pocket cruiser. The AD boats are similar to the PC. All three should sail much better than the PC.

I think you are supposed to just make them up!
