Soo, Grasshopper, you have the Tug bug too I see. I love the Malo Tug design but will not live long enough to build her. Keep us posted. I would add a bit of length and she'll make a great lake boat. If you look around up there you will find some work tugs not much bigger then what you are going to build. They have more than that one lunger though Stump!

You'd just hose it up with heartwood anyway. Some days I just wonder about me! I can't seem to read a date anymore. I just started wearing my hearing aids again and all the noise is making me agitated I guess. At least wise more than usual. Sat night Saralee and I were going to a party and as we were backing out of the garage she says "Do you have your seat belt on?" and I replied "Yes I have my teeth in, why?" Time to start wearing these damned things again. I made an appointment for the VA to adjust them in Jan. And these are supposed to be the golden years. I'm not even 60 yet!!!!!! The Gulf Coast summer sailing season for 2006 is beginning to shape up with event dates being confirmed. The first 06 event to firm up is the Trailer Sailors Backwater Environmental Escape Rendezvous (B.E.E.R.) Cruise set for 20-24 May. They are sailing from Pensacola to Navarre to Quiet Water on Pensacola Beach to Mosquito Cove and back to the marina in Pensacola. This is an open event and we are all invited. Adla this is my third year on the oil bearings and I love them. The hubs will come with rear seals that are a bit touchy to set so don't be suprised if they leak a bit at first. Just be careful sealing them per the instructions. Try to get the hubs with the "new " caps. They have a fill /drain port on the cap and come with O-rings. These are a must for not having to mess with teflon tape and messy oil changes (using the hub port or removing the cap). Any water in the hub will turn the oil a milky yellow color. In fresh water it isn't so bad a problem but you just can't keep saltwater out of anything it seems. On my dual axil trailer I was eating a bearing set per year before switching to these.

If your budget will allow it go for the oil bearinigs. No muss no fuss

My mount is fixed and when sailing, the motor powerhead tilts up over the after deck. The Vac stern freeboard is less than 20" so if not tilted all the way up the foot drags in the water.

Yes, motor and then the gallows I want to build. I like to sit up there in heavy winds also.

That rail would never work on my boat Greg. Too many thing happening back there for a high rail.
