That looks great Jake. I got tires of fooling around tipping the Allgrip on Tom's Hard Top and finished the outside from the canvas rail to the edge with a touch up gun at about 25lb. Came out great. I kind of like that All Grip but it's too pricey for my boat. The stuff dries like iron.

I use wax cord for making eyes as Frank suggests and for the past six years one has held up my main. All of my eyes are done this way with Sta-Set line from Boat US. From a maintenance standpoint I would look for some small diameter SS cable for the stays and fix them with copper swedges.. 1/8 inch SS would hold a double stay just fine.

I am seeing some of the same things in the Saralee Conrad. Next time I will use epoxy for most all glue requirements. Do you know why it is illegal to starve or dehydrate your dog here in Florida??? It makes them stringy!

Cj over on TSBB was talking the other day about taping the surfaces on two opposing joints on the bird's mouth mast and the glueing the others up. This gives a perfectly formed mast blank that can receive the internal hard point fillings and wire runs with ease, then the two halves are glued and your are done. I thought it was a slick trick....

Hi Mike, Yes we are fine. My keyboard cable at the house went bad yesterday so I couldn't answer. Flight test and travel have burned up all my boat time. Haven't been in the water since the hurricane last month. All last week in Dallas at Rockwell for a PMR. This week trying to get caught up on the test cards and analysis of the data from July. Glad to hear your sails are on the way. She looks strange with no boom. I loved the horse photo. Here we gust get gators and sharks! We are moving Tom's cover out to a trailer in a few minutes. I need to get the edge trim on and them it can be installed. Saralee wants her garage back! I will take some finished photos tonight and put them up if I have time to get a cable. Been having some trouble with my left arm. I caught my pant leg on a piece of equipment while getting down and twisted my elbow/shoulder in the process of falling off this thing so I haven't been doing much on my boat. In fact she is still under her "blue roof" as it were.

My wheel fit fine Chad until I put on the one inch cushions. With a 3" over lap something is very wrong. Did you angle the seat bottoms up ?

Greg the tail light is Perko for sure. Can't tell on the combo. I too am retro fitting with LEDs as the bulbs fail.

Mike, there is a guy on the TS board looking for a replacement mast. You are closest to him. You might want to drop him a post.

It may or may or may not clean the wood enough Jim. While doing Tom's cruiser top I had a coat of epoxy ( over fir ply) that orange peeled before my very eyes. I called Mike and he suggested the alcohol trick. I rolled out a fine coat over the whole 150 sq ft application and 99% of the orange peel smoothed right out. I still had a bunch of sanding to do but the trick saved the day. This would be even easier to do with a small area. Any time I have epoxyed anything like oakum or door skins I have met with the same rough finish. My suspicion is containments in the grain of the wood. It could be chemical or mechanical such as super small dust particles floating up in the application. How soon after sanding are the applications being made and what cleaning techniques are you guys using??

Tom I haven't spent enough time down there to say; however, for this neck of the water you made the right choice. The only places here you could launch that off a trailer are $15 a pop plus parking. A switch blade keel would be another matter.

Great tips guys. I have just always bought extra wood cause I knew in advance I'd waste a good portion of it. I don't do much resaw so have never gained any skill at it. These tips will surely help.
