Hold the hacksaw in one hand, pull the paper with the other, and hang the hacksaw back on the wall.

Ok, after sending dozens of pictures floating off into cyberspace I gave up, reset my camera,(incredibly easy!) and retook the pics.

Dave, The photos didn't get through. Use the BACK side of the hacksaw blade. Fold the sandpaper, Slip it over the back side of the blade at an angle and 'zip!' It's done, neat and clean. Try it once. My photo is too large and I don't know how to reduce it.

Everyone seems to have a favorite way of cutting sandpaper. I use the back side of a hacksaw blade after folding the sandpaper sand side out. My hacksaw is one of my few tools that has a 'place'. It hangs on the wall over the workbench, is immediately available and goes right back when I'm done. This little bit of efficiency is a bright spot in the wilderness of my world. Try it once or twice. Slip the paper over the blade, zip, and it's cut neat and straight.

My first build was a CS17. If you have the space you should consider the CS15 or CS17. Two full-sized people can fill up a 12 foot boat pretty quickly. I don't think any greater skill is required for the CS. Ya get a big pile of wood and a set of plans and start on page one. When you get to the end of the plans the pile of wood is gone and there's a boat! A kit makes it even easier.

AAAAARGH!!!! I broke open the new bottle of Scotch, put a dram in a glass with a spot of water, and settled down for a plesent read. Everything was wonderful. Then, suddenly I was bobbing in the dark somewhere southeast of Flamingo with an empty glass! You've got to stop doing this Allen! Sit down and finish the damn thing! This is driving us crazy! Dave, When I was shopping I learned that Yahama and Mercury four-strokes are identical inside. Take the best deal on either. Be sure to check the prices in Canada. The manufactures charge the US dealers more than anyplace else. Also, the Canadian Government reimburses all taxes paid by Americans. You could literally save a thousand or so. You could take the your wife for a romantic few days at Niagara Falls to show your appreciation for all she's been through during the build. Then you could either come home with the motor in your truck, or tow the boat up and have it fitted there.

When I finally got the seats framed I set a piece of plywood on it, climbed aboard for the first time, and holding an imaginary tiller, I stared off to where the horizon would have been if my house and the rest of Orlando hadn't been in the way. I had a "thinking stool" that I would use for hours. Actually, before that I had a "thinking recliner", but that didn't work....

Umm... isn't that where the rudder goes?

Ok, this is just for discussion's sake. I'm doing some remodeling of my 80 year old house in Orlando and have removed some 2x4 studs. They measure 1 5/8 x 3 5/8 . They weigh at least twice as much as a modern 2x4 and have a very very tight, straight grain and really smell nice when sawn or planed. My guess is that they are original growth pine. A: Seems there would be a useful place for this wood on a boat. (Don't forget heavy though...) B: Might be worth checking out old buildings for quality wood. Just a thought.
