Got white tarp. Have the main finished and the jib cut out. Started the running rigging today on the main. I hope to get the rest of the setup done during my work week, i.e. everyone elses weekend.

Ok, I'm trying to add some pictures. Oyster, this is the best I can do for now. I need to get back out and finish the sails

Has anybody put in the drain like they have on the plans? If I remember right it went through the keel? Thoughts?

I'm taking it as a good sign... I had to take the boat out from under the pavilion...err...boat shed to get it to the other side where my garden is or it would be stuck until fall. Last several days has seen heavy rain in the area and I have had to bail her out several times already. She holds water like a champ! I have 3 tarps covering her ( of course none is large enough to go from stem to stern) so I expected some water to get in but I've been negligent in putting them under tension and the water pools and, well you get the picture. :oops: So far it hasn't gotten high enough to get into the lazarette area but I'm thinking I'm going to have to install a drain or get a bilge pump. Cut and started the main sail today before the rain started. Couldn't get the luff and the foot to match up correctly so I split the difference. 'course I only had a 2 inch protractor so that made angle measurement interesting. That and the whole "v-dart" thing is a lot harder than it look on paper. Oh well, if this sail doesn't work I can always make another...or talk the spouse into letting me buy a set...hummmm :wink:

If I can get a dry day to lay out the tarp so that I could get my sails made I can get it into the water. None of the hatches are complete and none of the non-skid is on but I figure that is all fluff. So it is done enough to get wet. Make was determined to be "WEEKERDE" and the series/body "WSSPS16" I can guess that that the make means Weekender but what the series is, other than 16 feet on the length, I have no idea. Nor really care I'm thinking of using the Alki Point boat launch across the bay from Seattle. My daughter comes home from college at Cheney late this afternoon, I have to pick up my son tomorrow from Bellingham at Western, so I'm hoping late this week or early next. SWMBO has stated that there are priorities. I agreed and stated that I would get right on my boat...she was not amused :oops: :roll:

Just got back from the DMV. Other than standing in line it wasn't that bad 8) I had no, read "0," receipts. No problem. Just declared the value ($1500.00) and that was that. At first she did ask if I had it inspected by the state patrol :? I explained that it was a boat and I didn't have to have it inspected. After checking (gosh, I was right :roll: ) and figuring out the make, which I thought was the model, all was done. Cool, I'm legal. HIN number was assigned at the same time. How did I come up with the $1500.00 number you ask? Seemed like a good idea at the time. :wink:

Usually yes, the off-sets go feet, inches and 1/8 inches, unless otherwise noted. So in your example the measurement would be 1 foot, 9 inches and 7/8ths of and inch.

Thanks all, I'm at the rigging stage and its just kind of odd. I was out today and got my standing rigging up, need to make the sails. Already have my next boat picked out. The Archimedes, a George Buehler design from his Backyard Boatbuilding book. That will have to wait until I actually retire and move to a place with more space. :shock: You all are truly an inspiration. Thanks for your words of encouragement!

Anybody but me seem to slow down as they got towards the end of the build? I seem to be getting a reluctance to finish. Weird :oops: Kind of feels like when the kids were getting ready to go to collage... :? Maybe I'm identifying too much with the boat. :shock:

yeah, what Berry said. :wink: I was able to bend mine in with no problem, found the way it wanted to bend and went with it. Use a different piece. All ply wood is not built the same.

I am very close, need to mount the ports and set the rigging. oh yea, I still need to make the sails :wink: I made rope mast hoops, blocks and deadeyes. Funny, using glossy Rustoleum REALLY shows how little sanding I actually did on the topsides. Having trouble sleeping. Dreaming about what I have left to do and actually having the boat out sailing. Lots of trips in my mind so far :roll: One more week and I should be sailable...I'm really jealous that I won't be ready to go with the guys in the south sound. Went out with Capt. Jake once and had a ball. Great area to go "messing'about" in.

You've seen where I work :shock: There is a distinct possibility of the sun causing problems...sometimes I forget that it is an issue seeing where we live and all That's OK, I got another gallon of bondo so I figure I'll fill and smooth (as much as I ever do :oops: ) with that. Then, when it falls out I'll fill it again. :roll: that will help keep the paint fresh

don't get me started with Capt. Jake's workmanship...I've resigned myself to just getting my boat in the water and not even trying to live up to his standards. :wink: btw capt. Jake. I should be done by the end of the month and I'm looking forward to going down and sailing in your neck of the woods. That way you can save me when I do something really dumb!
