Read about this on another site. Person using it was only doing his top sides. He stated that it was great stuff and so glossy that it tended to show every imperfecton. However, you could roll or brush it on, it flowed smooth, and you could clean up with water. Anybody here heard about it?

How low does the Weekender sit when swamped? Would it be possible to raise or lenthen the coamings to that the boat cockpit would sit high enough to bail? If you added the foam behind the seats like some people are doing would that raise the rear of the boatsbe high enough to bail? What if you pushed the bow down some? The lowest point of the freeboard seems to be right around the seats, I would think there would have to be simple fix if the boat doesn't sit high enough by it self. :? Isn't there a picture somewhere around here with a Weekender on its side with most of the boat above the water? What is reality? :roll:

Soooo, Jan, When you get up in these parts is your brother coming too? :wink: capt jake, just because we were the only sailboat out there, (until that production boat came down the Sound) you act like it wasn't great sailing weather!! I had a wonderful time!! sca's are soooo over rated :wink: And really, there was only that one time, ok, maybe two, that the wind really slammed us and you seemed to have everything well in hand on those occasions. Never felt like there was any danger of going over!!! Of course, I will not be "finishing" the interior of my boat until I've had a couple of sails, I find thing dry out faster when they aren't covered up with things like carpet.

Funny you should mention AwlGrip. Just got done reading about a custom built 43 foot cruiser that used the stuff back in 1994. Stated it was recommeded by the builder. The problem of course was the stuff is deadly and had to be applied by a pro. (can't seem to spell that word today :oops: ) If it is a urethane, how could it NOT be waterproof? It was applied over a stripmolded wood hull. Edjabacate me please.

Boy, that sure does look like a Weekender! My guess would be some type of knock down, righted by both men, one helped back aboard by the one in the left in the water, unable to get the other one in the boat, and for some reason unable to bail the boat, then hypothermia got them both. Very sad. My prayers are with the families.

Great job with the pictures and description. Makes me feel like I was there watching the whole thing!! This is sure to be another thread that needs to be highlighted in some manner. Question about the hoist. I understand the spreader, but does the rope go all the way around or is there some type of "hook" that is attatched to either side of the hull? If so, how do you keep it from sliding off or skuffing the bottom edge? If the rope goes all the way around I am guessing that the lead keel does not extend that far back? How would you deal with a keel that went the full length of the boat? Thanks!

I bought a movable sink and a seperate bit. Mine clogged up with glue a lot also so I just kept a small pick handy and cleaned it out as needed. Only forgot to get the glue out once before the glue dried :oops: then it was a little more difficult. Never had a problem with the sink slipping up, but then I cranked down fairly hard with the allen wrench too. :wink:

Used boric acid when I lived down south in the land of bugs...learned all about roaches then. These things aren't roaches, just ugly. Never saw them before this year. Neighbor states he hadn't either, must be a plague of some type. I wonder what I did? :wink: Got some concentrated bug killer that might "accidently" fall into the problem areas undiluted. Nuke the baby seals, then shoot them in the dark. :twisted: Just 'cause I live in the NW doesn't mean I'm a environmentalist. Well, off to the slaughter :shock: :? (I think I'll wear gloves )

Well, I have the stuff in the bed of my truck. I've carried loads of gravel, rock, etc. and shoveled it out. Cleans out nice but I have to tell you, the stuff can be dinged and I guess you would say peeled. I have several spots where the coating has come off. OK in its place but unless you plan on piling up on reefs and rocks, a lot, I think I would rather do repairs with epoxy, glass and paint. Maybe in a whitewater drift boat? Anyone know about what happens when you make repairs with the stuff? Does it totally seal to the old and the under layer? If it didn't it might cause more problems then not.

All ready fighting bugs...anyone know of a really "killer" bug killer. I got these really ugly beatles with like huge jaws wanting to live in my boat, about 1/4 inch long and brown...nasty things that leave greenish smears when you crush them...I do not like them Sam I am. I do not like them in my boat, I would not like them in a coat. I do not like bugs here or there, I do not like bugs anywhere!!! (with appologies to the Doc.) :wink: I think they are starting to eat my wood!!!!!!!! :shock: :x :? HELP!
