In spite of Sandy, we had our delayed Mess-About and the weather co-operated. Although we had some overcast early, we had blue skies and perfect sailing breezes both days, as you can see from picture. Thank you to all who were able to make it this week, and thank you to those who braved the weather to come last week. We are thoroughly inspired by our builders, without you bringing them to life, our boats would just be lines on paper. We greatly appreciate the way our builders share their knowledge and experience and make our newbies and wannabes feel at home and part of the family. Also pictured is our youngest and prettiest mess-about participant, Isabella. She was an absolute little angel.

Hi Graham and all,

Thanks so much for a wonderful Messabout. Isabella and I had a wonderful time. We were sorry to leave so abruptly on Saturday evening, but Bella had hit the limit of her patience without a nap, so I thought it was best to get on the road, rather than pushing her to stay and souring her to the whole experience. As I expected, she was asleep within fifteen minutes of getting on the road, and she slept nearly the entire six hours home. I had to hit the coffee pretty hard to make it the last two hours, but we arrived home safely a little before 1 a.m. After a good night's sleep, Bella woke up asking, "Daddy, can we go sailing now?" Actually, she's here at my elbow as I type, and she wants me to tell you all "We have lot of fun sailing on the water."

Thanks also to Rick for coming aboard to help me retrieve our CS20 back onto the trailer. I can't tell you how nervous I was about launching and retrieving on the windward side of a high dock like that. Our boat has seen only two or three docks in the five years we've been sailing her, so I guess I need more practice.

Hope to get a chance to sail with you all again soon! I have some pictures that I'll post as soon as I can figure out where we packed away our camera.

I really enjoyed the friendship, help and sailing. Thanks to graham for everything . It's great to have someone that cares about his builders so much, and is willing to put up with the rowdy crowd (rowdy in a good way), and do all the work that it takes to put on an event like this.

Thanks to all of you for the help with our little "mess" trying to get into the windward side of the dock to load up Saturday afternoon. And a little word of advise to you other builders---when Graham says to "file and smooth the sail track before you install it, or you'll have trouble dropping the sails"---LISTEN. I was in too much of a hurry to finish the MK-2 to bother with such a thing. After all, wouldn't the sail track manufacturer be sure the track was ready to install? You'd thank after 65 years on earth and 15 years of knowing Graham, that I'd know better.

Also, Gordy, I've still get your cooler---how can I get it back to you?

Anyone who didn't get a chance to sail the still un-named CS-20 Mk-2, anytime you are in my area and want to go sailing,let me know.I'll be glad to take you out--depending on nor'easters, hurricanes, and other disasters. You can e-mail me at cludwig485@gmail.com. also, if you got any pictures of the Mk-2, please send them to me in an e-mail attachment. I was so busy trying to get my sails down and fix other minor mishaps that I didn't get any photos.

Next spring, let's plan to get together for a cruise somewhere. Maybe to Portsmouth Village, or just up to Cape Lookout. Any thoughts on this? Maybe we should start another "topic" on this.

It took me awhile to find our camera after the Messabout. Once I did, I was delighted to find a photo essay on the Messabout by my daughter Bella. These are too cute not to share... a glimpse of our CS20 and the messabout as seen through the eyes of a 2.5-year-old who can't keep her fingers off the lens.
