It is certainly not all HDs. Mine local one sells oil based paint. My local one is really an exception and I hope the manager never leaves. Great place to shop.

I would assume, and have no qualifications for doing so, that you store what gear you do pack in a watertight bag(s). That should keep things from moving around and rubbing the sides also.

Hello Jered and welcome. On the plywood I used BB because that is what was recommended and easy for me to get at around $38 a 5 X 5 sheet. Keep in mind none of us leave our boats in the water. Use them then take them home, clean them up and let them dry out. And, we coat the plywood during the building process with something that helps protect it.

Now that is pretty darn neat! The only flaw I see in your story is YOU CAN NEVER HAVE ENOUGH CLAMPS! They always come in handy! But that aside, nice coaming and and I can see that with a jig saw or router (either way) you could have done a wood lip (nothing wrong with the rope). You could have cut a piece to slip over the coaming and glue it on. Or, made the coaming overly wide and router from the bottom up to have the lip. But, your method looks to be a whole lot easier. Nice work.

Welcome aboard, txrukus. To my knowledge no one that posts here has built one. Sure would like to watch one being built, via pictures and writing.

That is the kind of iron I used back in the days of building RC airplanes to shrink the Monokote. You may find it cheaper at a hobby store. The problem with it is it is small and would take a lot longer than an iron. Be nice to work in tighter areas. I don't know if you can ever get it all out. I have some in my boat. I think it shows up more in a darker color than lighter colors. Keep in mind, I could be wrong, I've only built one.

You know I just can't decide which stitch I like best. I like both this one and the twisty one. Guess if I get to make another kayak I will do this seam, I've done the twisty one. You do mighty nice work Mr. Bcone.

I used linseed oil. I think that is what was recommended. I was glad because I love the smell of it as well as tung oil. Love it so much I put linseed oil on all the handles of my shovels, rakes, etc., at least once a year. Your canoe is looking real good. Decided on a color yet?

I used ZAR on my kayak, no problem.

Great looking little kayak, but you are correct, might as well start a bigger one now! He looks like his is saying "where's the water!"

Now that looks like fun. I love the pictures of them on the water. They look very proud of themselves as they should be.

I keep reading on other forums, it does not last very long. Don't know it that is true or not.

I see them on the internet and all I saw mentioned was minimum 12 mil. They are kinda cool. One forum I found someone named Kudzu was asking, I think it was an older thread, but if it is the Kudzu we know maybe he will fess up on here.

Aaron, your frame looks great and you got the Frog requirement out of the way. It is a piece of cake from here on.

That is a very beautiful boat. You really do nice work. I curious, what country do you live, if you don't mind telling? Be nice to know where these boats are being built. I always thought it would be nice if there was a section on Jeff's store where people could post pictures of their Kudzu Craft builds. As long as they give the info of which boat it is and where the person is from. I of course realize there could be problems with giving people access to do that. Maybe be could start a thread here that is just for pictures of the completed boat, which one it is a where the builder is from. Kind of a "sticky" thread. Consolidate completes in one place.

You are really progressing right along. Looking good.

I under stand that is you spray the paddle, quickly grab hold of it, and hold it for a few minutes, that it really provides a grip.... Super glue works for that also. I'd just spray it on the flats of the paddles.

. Since I wear a skirt I never looked for any more. None of your pictures show you in a skirt! I don't picture you with attractive legs!

Put thick "O" rings down by the paddle ends. Wouldn't that help? She look good on the water and your smile says you enjoyed it. Hod did the seat work for you?

Fine looking vessel! I want to get me one of those chairs and make a seat like yours. Maybe it will help my back. Let's see pictures of it on the water with you in it...
