Hi all. The sun came out, so we actually put the boat in the water for a bit of messing about. Paddles great!

Here's some pics. And, the water was basically calm and only thigh deep, max, which is why I felt mostly OK about no life jacket for the "photo shoot."

Questions and comments still welcome!

You are gonna get some double takes with the clear skin.

He sure is.  Almost makes me want to build one just to elicit such attention.  Looks good Dave.

Very nice work indeed. Now you should take that to the reefs in the Keys for your viewing pleasure of the fish and reefs to truely enjoy the boat. But for sure the workmanship needs to also be flawless as there is no margin of error with the finishes to hide them.

That clear skin is a brilliant move!

I have built several Wee Lassies out of cedar strip - they are light weight and amazingly fast for a small boat. That skin on frame approach must be even lighter - I imagine you have a very agile boat there!

Don't you ever park that boat next to mine!  Mine looks rough enough already!  ;D

I looks like launch day went well.  You're pretty much never going to get away from the boat ramp without having to talk to somebody about your boat you know...  Plan for the extra time and enjoy the admiration of strangers.

Thanks all!

Yes, I'm pretty pleased with how she turned out. In fact, today I took her on a 10 mile paddle down a class 1 river, with about 15-18 sections of shallow class 2. The boat is indeed very agile and I was easily able to avoid most of the rocks and hydraulics. I did ship a lot of water in the larger wave trains and the more intense rapids (intense for class 2, that is), though, but, for a flatwater boat, she done good.

Folks asked this on the other thread: The stems are finished with a few staples and HH-66 vinyl cement. Works great, and is that same glue you would use to apply a patch. Still, they are the ugliest part of the boat, as there are some wrinkles you just can't stretch out there.

Anyway, thanks again!

Dave
