Oyster Posted July 26, 2008 Posted July 26, 2008 Today I had the pleasure to witness one of the prettiest CS 17 and one of the prettiest one off hulls built by a former member from this board. Well he is still a member here even if in spirit only. But the situation which I come here with this post is not truely a pleasure for me. Sometime in the past there has been some posts concerning the death of John Shook[sp] I think was his name. Grahamn and Carla can verify this if they pop in. The boat is now for sale and really in needs to go away due to some obligations left with his family. I have no photos as I was not aware at the time that there were none around. I spoke to both Graham and this has been all confirmed too. So if you know of anyone in the situation and have the desire to own a museum piece and will truely appreciate this type of quality, please let Graham know. TIA Quote

I didn't find any pictures of his CS17 (hull #100) in his posts or in our Galleries. The list of his posts is here. Can someone get pics of the boat, and we'll feature it here? That and the contact information for the family trying to sell it. We do get quite a few lurkers who want a custom wooden boat but feel they aren't up to the task of building it. Quote

Oyster Posted July 27, 2008 Author Posted July 27, 2008 We spent the day together at a wooden boat show but she never spoke about not having photos to provide even though she has a nicely organized book of construction shots. SO I took it for granted that there was not an issue, just the lack of publicity as she was not a computer junkie. I would have taken all the shots necessary. John I spoke to Graham late afternoon and was informed about the lack of shots of the boat. Please get Graham to pass along a message, if you would, that if it would help the matter and if someone is genuinely interested in the boat, if Graham would arrange it, I can go down and do some shots. I do have a reason to be in that area within the next two weeks and even have someone over in Hampstead that possible can do some shots if it gets right down to it before then. But jimmycricket, I would think that someone around the family knows at least someone with a shot and computer even though they live out in the sticks by comparison to the big cities around them. Its just a very nice boat and great pains were taken to build it from the small amount of time that I spent next to the boat. I did nto crawl in it, but I doubt that inside and in the crevises would be anything other than what was exposed. Quote

I bet there is an interested buyer somewhere, if the boat could be listed along with its gear and features, and a few pictures.
