Graham,

The site is not working correctly here. When I click on one of the links, instead of getting a the expected webpage I am getting the html code. It as if the web sever is miss configured (mime types) and tells the browser that urls ending in .htm are text files instead of the html code that they are.

Hope this helps,

Ed

I got the same thing but it is because of some conflict with my security settings. I also got an information bar at the top of the window which allowed my to select "show the restricted content" and then the webpage came up.

Damn security settings are getting to be a pain in the ass to prevent some stupid hacker or virus causing problems. <rant>

Garry, most software has a "whitelist" somewhere that you can add a site to in order to allow it to display all content. In Internet Explorer, its in Tools * Internet Options * Privacy, and then click on the "Sites" button. You type the site address and click either "Block" or "Allow" to specifically allow or block content from that site.

Hmmm... when I visit the B&B site, all I see is the raw HTML code. It's strange because the code looks correct (didn't notice any missing tags) so I'm not sure why it wouldn't just display in the normal, Web-page manner.

Thought I'd let you know, Graham. If you've already been notified about this, sorry to drive you nuts by reporting more problems! :)

The site seemed to work for some and not others. I was at the comunity college last and tried it on a different computer and it worked perfectly, but others have called or emailed to say all they can get is htlm code.

I just got in tonight and found an email from our provider techie to try saving on our web. It worked!!! so maybe the the site will work for everybody.

Graham, you must be going crazy from this topic by now, but in case you would like to know: I still get the raw HTML code when I use the Mozilla Firefox browser to view the site. John was exactly right that the problem is some kind of incompatibility with Mozilla, as I can view the site just fine with Internet Explorer.

If I get some time later, I'll take a look at the code (I dabble in web design) and see if I can figure out what the trouble is. Just haven't had time recently. It is a strange problem, though, as usually Mozilla only has trouble with media content or images... never seen it have trouble understanding code.

Hi all,

Looks like the page just needs a small tweak on the server and it will work with Mozilla browser too.

Below are the results from the HTML validator at W3 run on the website's intro page...

Sorry, I am unable to validate this document because its content type is text/plain, which is not currently supported by this service.

The Content-Type field is sent by your web server (or web browser if you use the file upload interface) and depends on its configuration. Commonly, web servers will have a mapping of filename extensions (such as ".html") to MIME Content-Type values (such as text/html).

That you received this message can mean that your server is not configured correctly, that your file does not have the correct filename extension, or that you are attempting to validate a file type that we do not support yet. In the latter case you should let us know that you need us to support that content type (please include all relevant details, including the URL to the standards document defining the content type) using the instructions on the Feedback Page.
