Good afternoon, Scott! This looks like a really neat time. I have been following your (impressive)progress on the forum and wish you safe traveling and launching. Will you be launching in Vandemere? I will be in Raleigh, N.C. the 23rd to the 25th and returning home to the Outer Banks on Sunday. I am wondering what type and weight anchor you initially used that didn't hold for you. And if you were using any chain on your rode. I see on the Water Tribe forum that the men brought in the CS17 ahead of all other boats to Key Largo and are getting some sleep. Well done, Roo and F3!! Tom

I am watching for their progress on the Water Tribe site. It looks like they may have winds on their stern about 5 to 9 miles per hour for the first day and a half, higher if they can work offshore a little. It doesn't look like there is any severe weather forecast for the probable duration of their race. Wishing them good luck and you take care, Miss Carla. Tom

Dr. Willard Bascombe, in his book "Wind , Water, and Waves" (?) calls these vehicles ducks also. I read the book about twenty five years ago so I do not remember what that acronym was for. Interesting reading for anyone living on the coast. These are still in use here in northeastern North Carolina, but I haven't seen any with For Sale signs on them. I have a 1969 VW bug that can go some of the places that these can go but is a lot easier to park. Have fun, Tom

Good afternoon all! I have recently purchased plans for a cs20 from Graham and while waiting to begin building I want to build a set of oars for her. After reviewing previous posts and not coming across a consensus on length (I may have missed it) I am hoping that someone who has experience rowing a cs20 could help me out. I would plan to row from a station just forward of the mizzen mast. I am also wondering if anyone has had experience sculling this boat to access ramps and other short trips? Good afternoon, Brent. I live on Roanoke Island and it is very boater friendly. There are five public launch ramps on the island and several others just across the bridges in Mann's Harbor and at Oregon Inlet Fishing Center. There are also several commercial marinas at which to launch your boat. Festival Park is on it's own small island called Ice Plant Island that forms one side of Manteo's waterfront. A replica of a sixteenth century English square rigged bark is home ported at Festival Park and on Manteo's waterfront is one of the North Carolina Maritime Museum's boathouses. Next to the Museum is public (free) docking at the pier that leads to the Roanoke Marshes Lighthouse. You can walk to anything in Manteo from this point. There are a lot of places to anchor off for the night all over the area's sounds (bays to some) that are private and protected from weather. Shallow draft is a big plus in this area. Good afternoon , Tim! From what you have described I think that I would look for an air leak (hose is sucking air) at the connection to the tank or inline prior to the bulb. It sounds like the bulb is soft since it has air in it rather than fuel. Fuel feels hard since liquids don't compress. Good luck, Tom

Good morning, Mike. I have to second your thoughts on Yukon Lumber. I stopped by for the first time last week and had two employees ask if they could help me before I got into the showroom. Once inside three of the four counter salespeople asked to help me, the fourth had overheard the others so he didn't offer. I returned last Friday to get some sheets of Okume plywood so that my nine year old daughter and I can build a Moccasin as our first boat building project. Have a great day, Lauren and Tom
