Stevensons not answering emails?

Gidday all

Well after the great washout of May 18 I contacted Stevensons through their site (30/7/05) regarding trying to find out if they could do something for me considering Id lost both sets of plans for the Vacationer and the Pocket cruiser that Id only recieved a week before the washout happened... nothing... no response... narda

So again I contacted them (5/9/05 2 months later) after arguing with myself and debating if I should buy the plans or not then going ahead and paying for the Weekender plans online through paypal... again nothing! narda nothing

So now here it is the 9 September yeah 4 days later and still nothing from them! What gives anyone know? I mean I dont expect a long winded email but just maybe some sort of recognition... "hey good on you sonshine well done your plans are in the mail thanks for your business"... you know something!! I mean this is the third set of plans Ive bought from them and will if these arrive only have one set to build from...

That the plans dont cost a great deal is right and appreciated but surely some sort of recognition for their customers is worth the effort?... or maybe its bein an international that it doesnt mean anything nowadays to this mob? nah thats gotta be wrong they were pretty good the first time round but then I did buy 2 sets from them and then with my first email this time I was trying to see if I could perhaps appeal to them to reduce the price of both sets so I could replace the ones Id lost (even woodenboat sent me a response and gave me at least that) but this time Im buying again no questions no nothing just buying the weekender this time I cant afford to buy the other two again as weve got so much else to replace Ive been given the go ahead to buy 2 sets of plans a set of small reletively easy build ones and one for the major build... so anyway Ive gone down to the weekender instead... surely a response from them wouldnt be too much to expect?

When I bought the first 2 sets I emailed them from their site email that is mail@stevproj.com and got a response pretty slick the last two times complete and utter silence

Any ideas whats going on Frank? Anyone??

According to this thread There was some personal and server issues with the Stevenson's and the website, but according to Mike Stevenson all should be better now.

You could also try phoning them:

Phone calling from here to there on our Telstra costs is not an option... but I will send a pm to Mike to try to figure out whats happening

Doesnt seem normal but then its been some months now... I must admit to being a tad confused by their lack of response

Others apparently have had difficulty contacting the Stevenson's through e-mail. You are not alone.

Mike Stevenson has recently posted a message or two on the BYYB board. I would suggest that you try contacting him through this board and the BYYB board

Mike Stevenson is probably unaware that he is not yet receiving all of his e-mail. The site has had some server problems.

i know you said that calling was cost prohibitive....there are a couple of internet programs that let people call long distance cheap....i left them a message a couple weeks ago because i needed sails in a hurry and they returned my call that afternoon! They are probably swamped with emails *shrug* but they answer the phone.

Aside from the cost thing with calling them from here is the time differences as I write this Im guessing your up and awake... were as its now 12.30am here so Im about to buggar of to snoreland for awhile... if I could work that out Id give em a quick hoi an see if they would ring me back but again Im in the dark with the time differences thing

There's a free program called skype that uses your internet connection to other skype users for free, and regular phones are 10 cent a minute(?) I haven't used it myself, but I guess it's pretty competitive...

There's other Voice over IP programs out there, too.

Dingo - Roland nailed it.....Skype is the one i meant. I have a brother in the Ukraine (um, he works there....) and a brother in law from Italy who lives here and calls home and Europe a lot with Skype....it is cheap and easy. i still prefer email (because it is less intrusive - my phone offends me) but in my time of need the Stevenson's called me back the SAME day.

One question, How do these voice overs work if the other person isn't expecting your call? They have to be on their computer don't they? My son (Navy) and I tried one called Roger Wilco. It worked except I'm on old landline and I couldn't always understand him. Plus we both had to have the software loaded on our computers.

Skype works from Skype client <-> Skype client for "internet calls". Software must be running on both ends. It works like instant messaging, but for voice... For calling a regular phone, you only need Skype running on the originating PC - if you're calling a regular phone, there's no need (and no way, anyway) for a client to be running on the recieving end. Then it's like .10-.16 cents /minute. As I said before I haven't really used it too much (just some pc<->pc stuff) but I listen to many podcasts, and most use skype as a way to conduct interviews (saves on LD charges), and the quality seems reasonable.

Hi,

These plans are going out tomorrow morning. Our server has been down off-and-on, but the company never tells us much as to why (and yes, i know I should get on a better web host.) I was in SF this weekend meeting with people, Susie's in San Diego, and Peter left on the first run to Texas Sunday AM. So no one's been around much lately to attend to Stevenson Projects stuff, but we do ship still on a two-week schedule mostly. When this house has to be emptied we will likely shut down for a month or so to move stuff. I'll post something on our site when we do.

Mike is much too modest!

There is a lot of kindness going around behind the scenes these days, from the person who suggested Shane's plans be replaced ... he can come out of the closet if he wishes! .... to the shipment today of the replacement plans donated by the Stevensons. I dropped the ball myself between June and now, by not "closing the loop" with the Stevenson's, but its gratifying to see that the good intentions were eventually fulfilled.

So, are things back to "normal" down there now Wild Dingo? You must have the mud mucked out since you are once again contemplating the Weekender and Vacationer plans!

Thanks to all for their kind imput... including the silent one :cool:

It will be good to be able to get a start thats for sure Ive now got all the timber ply and other gear I need to at least begin still in need of a few things like fibreglass and epoxy but thats not about to stop me begining oh and Im also in need of a shed but am working on resolving that one

As for the mudpile... well I drove out to Kalgoorlie and back on Sunday (round trip of 1400klicks uggh am I buggared!) arriving back midday Monday and then had to drive down to Bunbury and back for one future son-in-laws medical needs while another was taken to hospital with several urgent problems but neither of these affected the mudpile which was pretty much cleaned up... insurance is a whole other mess of problems were still dealing with :mad: what has made the mudpile the mudpile once again is that it rained cats and dogs for 12 hours while I was away the creek turned into a raging river again but luckily was a foot below the house this time simply washed everything below that downriver and up against the railways undersized culverts that are the main cause of the problems... half our backfill has disappeared along with two piles of bricks the bridge (railway sleepers and timber pilons) over the creek is now on the other side of the creek and nowhere near it and the one on another blokes property up steam is now on our side of the road culvert smashed to bits... actually thats not so bad come to think on it as Ive now got his bridge timbers and our own that we can sorta maybe salvage and make something else from eh!!

Bloody interesting times I can tell you!!

But otherwise mates an matesses alls well at the mudpile... well other than the two sons-in-laws to be medical issues and havin a daughter who has not a bloody clue as to what she wants or intends to do with her life... As we Aussies tend to say... "its all good mate"

Im now looking at considering a houseboat to just moor down there at the creek... you know just in case? belts down with rain floods the house we move into the houseboat an just go with the flow downriver eh!
