Guest Posted January 17, 2005 Posted January 17, 2005 Frank, I think I speak for most folks here, in keeping you and your family and life issues in our weekly prayers and thoughts this new year. Please keep up updated, and let us know of any progress, both good and bad, for use all. Thanks for a wonderful forum that many can come and feel comfortable with in cyberspace. We've had a stressful year already ... my wife may have some serious medical issues, so we're on pins and needles about that, and my company announced it is shopping itself around for a buyer. Great. The first ones they RIF are the support departments that I manage (depends on the buyer, of course ... if they have similar products we're gone immediately, if they have never seen anything like our products we'll be around a while). So I'm also in the early stages of looking for a job. Maybe I will sail off into the sunset and give up all this Quote
Steve Day Posted January 17, 2005 Posted January 17, 2005 Frank, You and your family are in our prayers, too. You do a wonderful job with the forum and our thanks to you for that. The amazing part about all of these corporate things is that we all survive. I have many friends who were laid off from various companies that thank the company for releasing them so they could go off and do what they want with their lives. That, of course, is some time after the event. Best of luck and our prayers are with you, Steve Quote
Frank Hagan Posted January 17, 2005 Posted January 17, 2005 Thanks, guys. I appreciate that. Yeah, the job thing is just added stress, but with both issues, "not knowing" is what drives you crazy. We should know more in a few weeks on my wife's issues, and really, those are the most important ones. The rest is just window dressing. Quote
P Doug (WA) Posted January 18, 2005 Posted January 18, 2005 Ditto to all the above, Frank. You have a lot of friends here and a lot of prayers being said on your behalf. I wish you well. You are responsible for a whole lot of friends getting to know each other on this forum. Quote
cs Posted January 18, 2005 Posted January 18, 2005 Frank, my best wishes to you and your wife. I will keep you two in my prayers. Chad Quote
barnacle5 Posted January 18, 2005 Posted January 18, 2005 will pray for you and your family and your wife's recovery. that is the most important issue. there is always something to do work related if you want to. always the best to all. bill and darethea Quote
Fintan Murphy Posted January 18, 2005 Posted January 18, 2005 The same goes for me Frank. When I met yourself and Jan (and your daughters & son in law), Jan immediately struck me as a good soul. She has that way of making strangers feel at ease as only a good person can. Hope it's good news - she deserves it. Quote
Tom Lathrop Posted January 18, 2005 Posted January 18, 2005 Frank, You have your priorities in proper order. We wish you, Jan and the family all the best. Tom Quote
Frank Hagan Posted January 18, 2005 Posted January 18, 2005 When I met yourself and Jan (and your daughters & son in law)' date=' Jan immediately struck me as a good soul. She has that way of making strangers feel at ease as only a good person can. Hope it's good news - she deserves it.[/quote'] Yep, like most of us, I married "up", and don't really deserve her! I'll let everyone know when we get the rest of the tests done, and that looks like it will only be another 4 - 5 weeks. Quote
capt jake Posted January 19, 2005 Posted January 19, 2005 Gosh, I don't know how I missed this. Chin up Frank, I will be praying for you and your wife, not necessarily in that order. Lifes trials make us stonger and more humble, at least it has for me. You are great people I am hoping for the best. Quote
Barry Pyeatt Posted January 19, 2005 Posted January 19, 2005 I don't know how I missed this either. My best wishes for good news somewhere around this entire situation. Seems like it pours just when we think we are going to see some daylight. I'll keep you both in my thoughts. Sometimes we are just challenged in our perspectives. Hang in there. Quote
Johannah Posted January 19, 2005 Posted January 19, 2005 Yo Admiral! If you share any of this conversation with your wife, Please tell her that there are some genuine, female-type worry-worts on this board, too. We will be channeling that fretting into much more productive prayer for you both. May loving, healing strength surround you. Our bodies are such a miracle and so maddening at the same time. Quote
Frank Hagan Posted January 19, 2005 Posted January 19, 2005 Thanks, everyone. I probably shouldn't have let it out that way, at least until we really know something, but sometimes my fingers are as fast as my mouth .... But it is good to know people are praying and thinking good thoughts. Once we get through the maze of tests (which so far are all normal), then we'll know more. We have a consult on Tuesday from the first round, so we might know more then. I'll give updates as we know more. Quote
Guest Posted January 19, 2005 Posted January 19, 2005 Some of us actually read other folks posts. This is one forum that just about every post is worth the time to read, either gaining some boat knowledge, laughter, and idle time chatter,, that give us some insight into peoples personalities that helps me, at least understand patterns of writing, i.e. Capt. jake's reversal of "teh" to mean he is not paying attention, or Stump's opposite meaning to bad is good. 8) Frank is our resident thinker, and needler, all combined in one big ball of website terminolgy, which I have no idea of the meaning. I ramble with runon sentences, because I am too lazy for the proper english. Yes thats bad, but a way to deal with the years of those funny rimmed school teachers insistance to make me do complete papers over because I hated paragraphs. I never did master where to stop and start the darn things. I was always worrying about my tacklebox and if I had enough jigs for trout bite before dark, without making a trip past the tackle store. See, a guy practiciing his own demise. Keep the faith, as so much is lost these days. Oh yea, as a caveat, Craig's wife is also in need of some vibs, and prayers, for the up and coming event in her life of some invasive operation. See the thread about the cruise in Florida that he posted. DIDN't mean to neglete that one either, but was busy out of town a bunch during that time. http://www.messing-about.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3149 Quote
Greg Luckett Posted January 19, 2005 Posted January 19, 2005 Thanks' date=' everyone. I probably shouldn't have let it out that way, at least until we really know something, but sometimes my fingers are as fast as my mouth .... [/quote']Man, I sure can relate to that . Keep us posted, please, Frank. As you can see, we care about you and yours. Greg. Quote
capt jake Posted January 22, 2005 Posted January 22, 2005 Not meaning to sound like this is hi-jacking, but I couldn't see starting another thread; your thoughts for my wife would be appreciated as well. She lost her mother yesterday. Quote

My prayers are with your wife and your family. Greg. Quote
Johannah Posted January 22, 2005 Posted January 22, 2005 Captain, Just adding my prayers for you both as well. Quote
Guest Posted January 23, 2005 Posted January 23, 2005 Ouch Capt. Sorry to hear this, and likewise our thoughts are with you and your family. Quote

She lost her mother yesterday. [/quote']The loss of a parent stays with you a long time, and it really took my wife about a year before she didn't hurt when she thought about it. Its easier when they are very old and ill, and its not a surprise. But with her mother no one expected it, so the grief was combined with shock. With my dad, there was still the grief but we knew it was coming, and he was ready and in a way, so were we. Let her know we are all thinking of her. Quote
