CS17 #110 centerboard trunk progress

This took a bit longer than I expected, but it's installed. It's been a ton of sanding around it, and it's a bit of an awkward space to work. I did most of it with a Fein Multimaster and the detail sanding attachments. Nice tool that, thought pricey.

I was wondering what that space under the seats in the forward part of the cockpit would be good for. I underestimated how big it was, or overestimated the size of the average 5 year old. :roll:

I don't have that space on my CS20. That space is now a compartment, but if that is left open like in the picture, I would imagine it would be a nice spot to through wet gear or life jackets????

I was going to just put some iron bars in front of it with a lock. It the little 'uns get out of hand...

I was thinking about stretching a bungee net across the space and using the space for lifejackets or drybags holding whatever won't fit through the hatches (camping gear?)

Has anyone been able to use that space (modified) for a little outboard motor?

I usually use that area for the igloo and porta-potti but at about 29 1/2' long on the CS17, you could get most of a small outboard under there.

Nice work Scott. I am still a good way behind you. I hope to start on inside framing this weekend. By the way, how much epoxy does it take to stick your kids in the boat? :twisted:

How bout stowing your anchor there? Unless you deck-mount it, that would be better than putting a dripping anchor into the nice, clean forepeak.
