Scott Dunsworth Posted August 5, 2003 Posted August 5, 2003 Here are some pictures of the panels cut out and faired. I have to bevel the keel edge a bit yet and drill the wire tie holes. Hopefuly when the cradle is built this week and I get the bulkheads cut out we can wire her up and see the shape. IF I can find enough help for a few hours to help hold up these floppy panels. I know it will be a while but like I said its' exciting. I am waiting to receive plans for the CS 17. I don't have a lot of money so I am trying to put away some each month so I can start early next year. I am going to hand out the material list to everyone in the family that asks me what I want for Christmas. Kind of like registering items of a wedding or something. Might get a couple sticks of wood out of it. Quote
Frank Hagan Posted August 5, 2003 Posted August 5, 2003 I always like to see the "butterfly" panels ... it seems fitting they would fold up into a boat like a caterpiller becomes a butterfly (I know, that's a fractured analogy, but there's something about going from 2D to 3D that is so fulfilling.) As a matter of fact, I might even spend a day helping out for the privilege. Seriously, I have been planning to eventually build a Stevenson Projects Vacationer but am thinking that a Bellhaven or Princess might be more in line with my needs., so I would love to see one up close and personal. You cant see it in the photos but it was there. I added a bit of material this morning and Ill refair that edge back to your design. My saw got a bit to close to the line. P Doug I never thought of using the Christmas idea, I wonder if it would work on my wife to get a outboard motor. Frank 3D sounds good to me! Tom I am in the Chrisney area. I may take you up on the offer if you don't mind the drive. When I decided on the Belhaven I was torn between the Princess also. I went with the Belhaven mostly because of cost to build and I would be using the boat by myself 90% of the time. Scott Quote

I have to admit though, I think that is probably the prettiest area in IN. When are you planning to have the folding party? I am unemployed currently, and scheduling might be doable. Quote

Right now I still need to; 1. cut out the transom 2. build the temp. bulkhead 3. finish the cradle which is 75% done 4. cut out #1 bulkhead. I will have a week off starting friday but some important family matters need to be tended to this weekend, so wont get started again till monday. So as of right now I cant put my finger on the stich up day. If I can get a whole day in the shop we could be ready the next day. Scott Quote
