WOW. Right now I am only lurking here every few months and when I get here today, I find this ancient post of mine suddenly being talked about again. I am glad that the idea is finding some approval. My life situation has caused me to put my plans for boatbuilding on hold and pursue some other things. I am still planning to build this boat one day, before too many more years and I still value all the wonderful expertise that can be found here. Tom.

Jake, You're right. I think he has some pretty cool designs, especially when you read the history behind each one of them, and see how he came up with them. Last night I got the side pieces cut and laid out end to end. This is gonna be bigger than I thought. But it should be a very nice boat for me and my two sons to spend some serious time in next summer. We may even convince Mom to come along too sometimes. One of the things I really like is how responsive David is, when you email him with questions about his designs, how how the designs are in some ways, still evolving. The Daydream for instance, does not have a set sail plan, although I am leaning toward the cat-yawl he suggests at one point on the plans. Tonight I get to see how my scarfed chine logs came out using PL Premium. That and moving the work to the other side of the garage at the orders of SWMBO.

OOPS! Sorry guys. I thought everyone was familiar with Simplicty Boatworks. David has some really nice simple designs.

After years of lurking, and procrastinating, I have finally started construction of my first boat. I know that this site is primarily concerned with Stevenson designs, but I am building a Daydream from Simplicity Boatworks. I am sure that along in the process, I will need advice from the experienced builders here. So far the progress is just cutting some pieces and scarfing the chine logs, but as soon as there is something to see, I will be posting pictures. Thanks for all the inspiration everyone.

Wow Scott, when you say southwest, you really mean southwest. The closest I have ever been is along I 64. I have to admit though, I think that is probably the prettiest area in IN. When are you planning to have the folding party? I am unemployed currently, and scheduling might be doable.

Scott, where in Southwestern IN are you. I am in Indianapolis, and would love to see one of these boats coming together. As a matter of fact, I might even spend a day helping out for the privilege. Seriously, I have been planning to eventually build a Stevenson Projects Vacationer but am thinking that a Bellhaven or Princess might be more in line with my needs., so I would love to see one up close and personal.

Guys, lets not forget that the Pocke Crusier has bee successfully scaled up as far as 124%. I can't remember the name of the guy who did it, but it made a huge boat that is still under the 8' limit and I have read performs very well. Perhaps this would be more of what he is looking for.
