David Scamp
Hi, I'm building from plans. Any tips for laying out the templates? I lay them out and secure them with clamps and then drill holes through the templates into the plywood then I remove the template and join up the holes. Chick Ludwig
If you can find old-fashioned carbon paper (from a an office supply store), just lay it between the pattern and the wood and trace along the cut line with a ballpoint pen, hard pencil, nail, or any other instrument with a not-too-sharp point. You could also run along the line with a "pattern wheel" people that sew would maybe have one.
Don Silsbe
I use a finishing nail and hammer to mark the wood through the plans at regular intervals, say every two inches. I would be afraid of having the pattern walk its way in front of you (shift out of position) if I used a pattern wheel.
