Scroll bar is fine. I think it was Ray who had problems with the bar on his laptop. It is more prominant now. I sometimes have problems with the font size. Must be old age setting in. :D You are doing a great job Frank!!!

2 friends of mine just bought Grizzlis. They paid around 800-900 each. They love them and think they are great saws. I personally use my grnadfather's old Delta, circa 1948. He paid around $68 brand new, I still have the receipts. This saw is only and 8 1/4 but it is my favorite saw of the two I own. I have a Craftsman 10", the only thing nice about it is the 42" Beismier fence (which is worth more than the saw). I am always looking for a twin to the old Delta, as I would snap it up in a second. Still use the factory fence and it is absolutely true. I also have his 4" jointer, circa 1948, cost about $70. It is also a solid workhorse!!!

Heavy, beautiful, durable and hard to bend. Other than that... ?? Heck I don't know!!

My recommendation??? You can take the sanding torch and go forth!! :D Your layup sounds good to me, but then again I sand too much!! Go forth and SAND!!! I will try the grooved trowel technique next time. Seems that it might work quicker and easier.

I talked to Graham at length on this subject. The ultimate answer?? NO. you can not achieve the same density to area with epoxy and shot (or anything else). Graham has the ballast located and designed for a solid cast ballast. If you deviate from this (cast), you will be on your own to best locate it in the keel. Casting lead is really no big deal. the big deal with #250-#300 is the volume you are dealing with. Thus, a very large crucible and rig to hold and despense it!! I started casting ingots out of wheel weights for the Princess a long time ago. I have well over #100 at a cost of about $25. I cast them into 10-15 pound bricks, in a bread pan. Long story short, yes you will have to study up on casting. Build a mold and prepare!! Heck, I have a lot of really cool weaights to help hold things in place as glue sets up now! :)

Brightwork will be my downfall!! Floating furnature LOL is right!! I hope to achieve that!! It will be close, I hope!!

I will be at that point soon, I hope. I know in my case, I will have to measure everything as all of my lines are goin to be led into the cockpit. I plan on buying the different color coded lines also, so that will mean more measurements, as they will come off of different spools.

Hello capt!! I have followed your boat for quite a while on the 'old' messing site!! I like what you have done. Just browsed your pages the other day!! Welcome, and don't be a stranger!!

Thing is, we don't have the fog roll in (typically). Arnie is inland and won't be bumping around wiht the 'big boys'. All good information, and I am certainly receiving it. I did notice on my last trip to the East that the fog does roll in on you folks rather rapidly!! Here on hte West coast, the fog is typically in the morning. It may burn off or may get less pronounced. But, it typically does not sneak up on you. I have an old piece of PVC, maybe if I blow into it, 'HOOOOOHAAAA". maybe that Will work?? :D Or, for the "it's all wonderful life " crowd, 'HEEEEHAAAA!" I mean no offense buy your post Graeme. I just couldn't resist! The fog thing is true here though. :)

BTW, foil will have no effect on hte performance of the radio, coax or antenna.

Ya know, there was a lengthy discussion of installing wiring in the mast a while ago. I tried a search but couldn't locate it. I can't recall what the general consensus was. Of course if you are building a hollow mast, as Arnie is, the solution is pretty straight forward. For those of us with solid masts, it is a little trickier. Arnie, if you crumple foil up in the mast (surrounding the coax for the antenna), isn't that going to interfer with the coax/antenna? I understand the reasoning for the foil, just wander what affect it will have on the radio. I will check while I am at work tommorrow on that.

Frank, I remember the post you are talking about, but I can't find it either. I thought it was a blue colored hull, and thought it was a Weekender. My recollection was that the cracks were due to water absorbtion. Interesting!! I know that the keel on mine, once died out, had several 'openings' in the glue line. It had a life near the coast prior to when I bought it. It didn't take long for all of the parts to dry out in the shop. The mast stub wouldn't fit at all, but after about 2 weeks, it slid wight in.

Ray, you are a PIMA!! LOL If I had gone with interluxes recomendations, I would be into this well over $200, probably into hte nearing 300 mark. I haven't reached that yet, even with the 'mistake' paint. Not to mention, interlux says to apply this coat, then that coat, and oh by the way sand in between this coat and that coat.....then apply another coat of this stuff and that stuff... Interlux is way to anal on the topic. And you thought I was?? I talked to there tech line..Tech?? right!! More like, "let me look in a book and give you what I think is right, but iI am not sure"... Have you ever called them and asked a technical question?? If you haven't, don't waste your time. All they do is confuse the issue. All right, I am done ranting. I understand where you are coming from Ray, but I am not going to use that paint!! Maybe on the trim... MAYBE!!! :D

Chuck, you can't have better support than Graham provides. I have a set of his plans and he has been very helpful in hte decision making process! Alas, I have yet to build the boat I bought plnas for, but taht is due to my personal situation. Graham does a bang up job on his plans, and offers the support ot back them up!! Go for IT!!

Ray, you must work for interlux!! LOL A pint would be more than enough to do that! Alas, you may have a point, go with somehting to do the trim paint and then mask of everyting else. But!!! I will NOT be using all of their primer hullabaloo! It better go on well as it stands. LOL this auto paint went on pretty slick, just need to get a slower reducer or lower the shop temps. Do they sell pints of Brightsides??
