I have carved many, many, many hunting bows over the years, so working with a draw knife and hand plane is routine for me now. Didn't start that way though, hang in there. Quote

Sharpened the plane and got the paddle blocked out pretty good. it is a little smaller than intended but not bad. went from 4" wide to 3 1/2". Sorry the pics are so small. The plans I found suggest 3 1/2" and my research shows even narrower were often used by the Inuits. Although the limited supply of wood was their primary restriction. You could always secure some bone to the edges of the blade. This would serve as chafe protection from ice and make the blade wider Quote
