I am not to crazy about the aft cabin. So do away with it, She is only 25 feet so make her around 30-32. Now if a designer could stretch that cabin back a bit, make her a cat ketch in tabernacles for those bridges she would be near perfect. For the great circle cruise.

I'm still thinking of building a plywood version of the Princess 28 for this although that Nimble might be a good choice. I've been on one that had just the motor, but as I recall, rough water gave it fits.

No matter what it is, for me it will have to be a boat that sails, and sails well, the efficiency of that is too great to ignore and most boats that sail well also motor well too. But the better they sail, the less motoring you do....if you are looking to sail first, get there second. The schedule takes a back seat to the adventure of the trip. For me at least.

The question for the P28 then, is how to configure and fit her out for such a trip.

I doubt that Alberg ever designed anything remotely like that. An Albin perhaps.

Deadrise and rocker are there for a reason.Take a 26' flat bottomed boat into a 3' chop and you will discover, people get hurt, things break.
