Belhaven update

I have a few pictures of some progress. Just a few more pieces to put on and it will be primer time for the topside. Hope to shoot the primer this time next month.

I built the rails for the hatch and found a way to glass the inside of the groove. Hoping that that will take the brunt of the wear of the hatch sliding back and forth.

Anyway here are a few pic's.

WOW --- That's really looking great Scott! Are you going to paint the topsides or go bright? I debated it and then decided to try bright ... I figured I could always paint later. I like the look ... it says to onlookers "I am a wooden boat".

Any guess on a launch date?

I've been watching your boat come together from the beginning or nearly so and it's really looking great!

Thanks for the encouragement. Tom there will be some bright but most will be white. Hope to have a prelaunch by May to get the engine mounted at the right height. Along with a few other things. Then Rig her and have a official launch at Grahams around the second week in June.

But there is a lot to still do!

1. finish the inside, except the galley and cushions. ( about 3 days)

2. pour the ballast ( 1 day )

3. build the tiller ( day)

4. build or buy the masts (???)

5. most wiring I can do during the summer

6. rework the trailer a bit (2 days)

All this plus get her painted in March, trimmed out and the companionway done.

So as you can see June is goal but I have a lot to do yet.

My next project would be to pour the keel, if at all possible. You can boat with a coat of high gloss. And if you wait till its all done, your grey hair will be falling on the decks. :wink: Done is only a word in the English lanquage. Right guys?

Doug I am glad you have enjoyed the trip so far. The people on this forum have helped a lot.

It has taken me much to long to build this boat and the encouragement I have always found here has helped may times.

I am sure there are some more Belhavens being built right now. It sure would be nice to see some of the others. So if anyone is building one, post us some pic's.
