Hal Hammond Posted June 10, 2023 Report Posted June 10, 2023 I’m looking for flotation bags for a Ravenswood and Ravenswood LV. I found some Harmony bags but it’s not clear what would fit https://www.amazon.com/Harmony-Vinyl-Micro-Kayak-Floatation/dp/B0047H4A44/?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_w=bNA8u&content-id=amzn1.sym.bc5f3394-3b4c-4031-8ac0-18107ac75816&pf_rd_p=bc5f3394-3b4c-4031-8ac0-18107ac75816&pf_rd_r=73PEK1D32YY4QXFM127W&pd_rd_wg=uoY2O&pd_rd_r=d6fb166b-3d61-46b3-b93d-5655e93f352e&ref_=pd_gw_ci_mcx_mr_hp_atf_m&th=1 Anyone has some advice? Hal I used NRS bags in my Vardo. They have two sizes. I can't remember, but I think I went with the larger size in both the bow and stern. If those look too big, the smaller size should work in the Ravenswood. https://www.nrs.com/nrs-split-kayak-float-bags/pesk?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=1672873107&utm_content=68835701990&utm_term=&utm_campaign=Dynamic_Search&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&gclid=CjwKCAjwvpCkBhB4EiwAujULMmXyOU7kT9ZQeyS65S5x04V-DAhlaBbEY6RjyA2NYwREaijhyN69WxoCBy4QAvD_BwE Quote

Scott Pettigrew Posted July 30, 2023 Report Posted July 30, 2023 I'm getting ready to skin my LV. The pics below are the large float bags (33.5" long) from NRS in both the bow and stern. They fit, but they are very snug around the frames when inflated. I'm wondering if chafing will wear through the bags? I could put some tape on the frames. Thoughts? Quote
andy00 Posted July 30, 2023 Report Posted July 30, 2023 Scott: I haven't seen any sign of chafing on mine. As you note, they fit snugly in the frames. With no movement there is no chafing. Have fun! Quote

Hal Hammond Posted August 6, 2023 Author Report Posted August 6, 2023 That looks like a good fit, Scott. Nice build too! Quote
lattenkracher Posted August 8, 2023 Report Posted August 8, 2023 Question: Has anyone ever tried to permanently fill the bow and stern segments with styrofoam before skinning ? Are there any experiences or opinions? Quote

Hirilonde Posted August 9, 2023 Report Posted August 9, 2023 I would think that foam would trap water between itself and your frames, not quantities, but wet, and stay that way for a while if not longer. Quote
