The problem was disuse Tom. After an hour or so at Chokolooskee it was working quite well. I'm planning to take it out again soon and drag some fake fish around the ocean. Thanks again for coming with me that day. I never would have gone out there if you hadn't been along. It was very comforting to have along someone I have so much confidence in.

In the top photo they were doing about 8 1/2 knots. I took a number of pictures but only a few turned out, what with trying to see the display on the camera, the slight delay from the time I hit the shutter, and the motion of my boat. It took quite a while to catch them. It was rougher than the pics suggest. The ride back was even worse!

On my boat the deck was much different because I wanted a casting platform. I made the deck cut out elliptical. I used door skin to get a pattern because I wanted the coaming to slant slightly forward. It ended up a swoop-shape. I then used three thicknesses of 1/8 inch and scarfed it to 3/8 inch for the sides. I didn't have coaming on the aft deck. When I was done the coaming was one piece and I really liked the look of it.

Aw come on Dave! I can't pronounce Hirilonde or even find the key that makes the two dots above the "e". Wing"e" Nert"e" is just going too far!

I've wondered about this for some time. Couldn't you glass one side of each panel before assembly? If you did the inside surfaces and pre-sand them they would be ready for glass tape. then it would be easy to fair the foam on the outside before glassing.

Matt declined an offer to sleep in my camper Friday nite and slept in his boat in a little cove near the beach. Saturday morning I saw him calmly wheeling it through the parking lot to the beach rather than sail it all the way around in the dark. My guess is that he carries along the wheels as preparation for the Ultimate Challenge next year. At Chocko he handled the huge mud flats by polling when he got to the really shallow water and kept polling right along on the mud till he got in to the fairly shallow mud. (8-10 inches) Instead of hi-tech boots he went bare footed. He spent 30 - 40 minutes at Chucko and we chatted for a while. Super nice guy! He even shared a few changes he has in mind for his boat.

It has everything to do with the race. That's my car. The white fender in the foreground is Graham's van. The EC22 is just behind it. Tinker is driving the car. ....see??

Since Tom indicated he would like to ride along with me Saturday morning to take pictures of the race, I would assume he's still "busy". At least for a while...

Actually, I have found out how to send a pic to an email address....I think...If I'm alone on the boat it may be too complicated. We can try it of course.

Graham is busy fixing all the little things necessary but he's very happy with the boat. They only had about 6 knots of wind but the boat moved very nicely......Then his cell phone battery went dead.

I, for one, am impressed! I always thought it was just magic. We need more pictures.

Wouldn't that be easy? I think I need to be signed up (more money) before I can post straight to the Internet. Of course it may be quite possible and I just don't know how to use it.

Ok, I know how to use my phone. I know how to take a picture with it. I know how to send the picture to another phone. That's it. Beyond that it's a mystery. Is there anyone in this group who has a phone that would receive my pics from the race and could immediately get them online? ...like onto this forum?? I could send the pics right from my boat as the race is happening. We could have pics available within minutes of taking them!

Core Sounds have been built of aluminum. They're a bit heavier, but take bumps well.

Hey guys! The first weekend in May is the small boat mess-about in Cedar Key Florida. Rooms start about $70 or so and the campground I stayed at this year was about $20 a nite. There is absolutely no organization, but just a cloud of boats of all sizes. Be advised you'll really need a good chart. When the tide goes out there's nothing but mud.....nice mud if you're into that sort of stuff.
