The boat is coming along, I did not have much time to spent on it lately. I am 3D I have the side to put on but some how I miscalculated the measurement when I traced them.Too big, which is better the too small LOL. I will post some picture soon.

I made up some new mast hoop , using a design made by Greg Miller. and they look great.

I am Building a " Guppy " ;D Keeping with the tradition, I started building this one the same place I started my Weekender. In the dinning room The Guppy is a small boat I am building for my kids to initiate them to sailing. My oldest is 6 1/2 years old and love boats , so let's foster that. I will keep you guys posted on the progress. Cheers

Awesome Video, makes me anxious to get out on the boat. The only problem is that there is still snow and the water is still in the solid state (3 to 5 feet thick that is)

Feels that way for me too We have a short sailing season. But on the other hand we have a looooong building season ;D

I held up as long as I could for one last sail before putting her away. Unfortunately crapy weather, a move and being a single dad while mom is gone on training there just was no time :'( A friend and I went today ( weather was great, bitter sweet ) towed it to the boat ramp and within an hour the season was over. :'( Now it's time think about cleaning up and tweaking the boat and finally put the finishing touch that was left out for a hasty launch. Went for a sail tonight with my first mate, we toured around the famous house boat of Yellowknife Northwest Territories. Not much wind but we had a great time. Cheers

Thanks Greg It is a Weekender, I still have to put the cabin hatch, handrails and splash cuming. The location is Prelude Lake in Northwest Territories The water temperature is about 15 to 18 degree celcius. And Lay off the flag LOL ;D

After a few rigging problem on launch day. We decide to get her wet and motor around with the familly. Polar Dip went undersail yesterday, Thanks to the help of Greg Miller I would still be landlocked. Winds were quite strong, so I only put up the jib and with the jib alone I was quite suprise by the speed I got up to. I will try to get back out again tonight, if the winds are in my favor. Once again thanks Greg.

Update I raised the sail and check all the rigging in preparation fo the launch,and to my horror the mail sail was too big by a few inches and the boom was ridding to low. Greg Miler ans his son came to my rescue did a quick fix and we are ready to go. I also am scared it will sink LOL I will follow up after i get her wet. Denis

Hey All. Six loooooong years after ordering the plan, a first baby ,a tour of duty oversea , a second baby, chewed up finger tips by my router, A move across the country(with my unfished boat in tow for 5500 km). My launch date is finally set for July 20. It seems surreal. This would of not been possible without my loving and really really really understanding and patient wife And you guys at the messing-about. com for the advices and tips on boat building. Soon I will be joining you in your sailing discussion and sharing my sailing adventure. Frank Hagan thank you for keeping this web site alive. Hey guys Thanks for all the great input. Here what I have done. I went with Phil Gowen's mod and did the same has Graig. I put one turnbuckle on each side with. I feels graet cant wait test it in the water. Thanks Again. Denis

Hi Guys It's a long shot but here we go. About 3 to 4 years ago i have seen a stearing gear modification by a builder. I decided to apply the same principle, where he had a turnbuckle attached down at the floor in the lazarette to adjust it. He had great picture posted and all. But after 4 years and 2 move I cant located all the print out i had about the mod. Now the time has come to hook it up and ??? I cant recall how it went. So if anyone recall or have any idea please send me in the right direction. I searched the site using the search engine but had no luck. Thanks Denis

In the plan , the hinges call to be attached to the mast with #10 1 1/2'" screws. It looks small to me. And the head of the screws are too small for the hole on the hinges. I was tossing between using lag screw or #14 1 1/4 screws. -The lag screw wont be flush to the hinges but they are treaded all the way. -The screws would be flush to the hinges but are not traeded all the way. Opinion / suggestion please. Maybe I should not get all hooked up on small details like that, but I am too far along and too close to the end to ruin it. Thanks

It's been a long time since I posted an update. First cut was 5 1/2 years ago, 2 kids, 2 tour of duty and a move across the country with the half built weekender in tow. The deck is all fiberglassed, bondoed, anti skid applied and primed. I flipped the boat with the help of my mechanical friend, to fix some traveling damage. The hull bottom is now fixed and awaiting a couple more coats of paint. There is light a the end of the tunnel and it's getting brighter, I am hoping for a launch in the next 3 weeks. I will keep you posted.
