Hardy congrats! You did get pictures, right? That must be as thrilling as the first child being born. You did a great thing building the boat, trust me your kids will never forget what their dad did. When I was young, I told my dad I wanted a little row boat. He said he would match what I earned to buy the lumber. A couple month later we bought some plywood, over the weekend he whipped out the nicest little 12' rowboat you could want. No plans or anything. I am still in awe 50 years later.

I couldn't think of a better birthday than to be left alone to work on a boat. I hope you have a great one :bday:

Thanks for posting the pictures, can never be too many pictures. Beautiful boat and it looks like a great job was done. I aways look at the welding and marvel. Nice welded joint always impress me. Like art work. Can't wait to see pictures with sail on it. My one question: how cold can it get before you can no longer sit in that boat? You might with that boat stuck to your seat until the next spring thaw!

Scott, THIS is exciting. Please keep the progress reports coming. I can't wait to see what one looks like finished. I know it will be a while but like I said its' exciting. I am waiting to receive plans for the CS 17. I don't have a lot of money so I am trying to put away some each month so I can start early next year. I am going to hand out the material list to everyone in the family that asks me what I want for Christmas. Kind of like registering items of a wedding or something. Might get a couple sticks of wood out of it.

I'm about 20 miles upriver on the Columbia River from where the Snake flows into the Columbia. I live along the Yakima river a few miles from where it flows into the Columbia. Ya, I'm from the Glow zone. Born and raized in this area (Tri-Cities: Richland, Pasco and Kenewick). Not as pretty as your side of the mountains, but it use to be a great place to live before all the people moved in. Funny how people move to a small place because they think they want to get away from the city and than the first thing they do is try to change to be just like where they came from. You are right Spokane is a little closer, but my son and his family live in Poulsbo currently. Boy do I love it over there. He is Navy so he won't be there forever.

What a motly looking crew! If there is ever a get together of all the weekenders, vactioners and B and B boats in the Norhtwest I hope it is posted on this forum. I don't have one built yet but I sure would like to go see them all and meet the owners. Should be quite a few boats.

That is one pretty little boat. Explain where your building skills let you down. I just don't see it. I love the design in the deck. Great job.

I would think that if a cabin is not important than the CS 20 would be the Ideal boat for that many people. Wouldn't have to worry about all the modifications. Welcome aboard. That is a great looking boat. Thank you for your many years service to our great country. This is the best forum I have ever participated in, now it is the only one. Seems like the others always had some silly bickering going on between people that had probably never even met each other in person.

This man has to get started on the first one and quite being just a "wana be" builder. Been dreaming about this for four years.

Thanks for the reply. My order will be in the mail soon. I will go with the 17 and after I get good or feel the need for more I will sell the 17 for enough to build the bigger one.

Sorry Tom, everytime I select an image for under my name someone is already using it. I will try another. To bad they aren't somehow marked as "in use" or something when you are selecting one. I hope everything is Ok with the gentleman that is building Snupi. It really is an interesting project.

This has probably been asked before but I would like opinions. Is the Core Sound 20 enough more boat to make it worth the $800+ more it would cost to build, over the the Core Sound 17? I keep going back and forth in my mind. Remember I am a beginner.

Isn't it time for a Snupi update? I haven't seen one in a long time.

Lots of pictures! Is this the first Belhaven a member of the forum has built? I don't remember reading about one in the length of time I have been watching the forum. I'm excited, I like pictures and comments.

Hey, thanks for the great responses you guys. Likes like the real soultion is to build both! Wish I could and just maybe I can someday. The reason I chose the Weekender in the first place is seeing all the ones here in the great northwest I know I could get help if I need it. Either boat would look beautiful out in the puget sound area. Not that far away for me.

Roger, really looking nice. I am wondering, when you bought you plans did you get the CD to go with them? If so, is the CD a big help? One more question, do you put fiberglass on the CS boats or do you just epoxy. I have the plans for the Weekender, I am real close to ordering plans for the CS20 or CS17. I think it looks like a boat a person learn to sail in (I have never sailed) and still be a great boat after the initial learning stage. The Weekender looks like a fun boat to build but a little tougher to sail, especially for a beginner.

That is a nice looking boat. What color is it? One picture (the first) it looks black, in the second it looks like a dark brown. Also what color are the sails?

By all means, please put the picture(s) on this forum. I think everyone appreciates pictures. Hope you include pictures of the whole boat also.

The paint sounds like a little more than I want to do for an old 12' aluminum boat. The paint would cost more than the boat is worth. Thanks for the info though. Hope you post pictures of her sitting in the water. Congrats on the expected number 2 child also. They are a little higher priority than a boat.
