Greg Luckett Posted August 28, 2015 Report Posted August 28, 2015 Wow, another year gone by. My youngest son and his friends have started using the Spindrift 12 that was built a few years ago. It sat, never splashed, as my knees started hurting and we needed a good engine. Got one last year. The boys do not sail it, but go to small lakes and fish. No pics yet, sad to say. Meanwhile, my knees are better and my diet is working. I expect to build another boat, perhaps a Core Sound or a Princess Sharpie, in a year or so. Quote
PAR Posted August 28, 2015 Report Posted August 28, 2015 Good to see your post Greg and glad to hear you're doing better too. You're not dead yet, so of course you're going to build another. It's an inescapable illness with no real cure, you're afflicted with, so acceptance is the first step. At least this is what my BBA (Boat Builders Anonymous) session keeps repeating. 1 Quote
Oyster Posted August 30, 2015 Report Posted August 30, 2015 Good evening sir. Its great to see you on the green side of the dirt, as they say. Not much has changed here,,,,except getting a bit slower. 1 Quote
Charlie Jones Posted September 27, 2015 Report Posted September 27, 2015 Hey Greg and Oyster. Same comments from me. Haven't seen either of you in awhile. Me? still alive and kicking. Spent three months sailing to Florida and back this spring. Been sailing sort of weekly  Here's a vid of one day-reefed jib and single reefed main  Quote
Oyster Posted September 28, 2015 Report Posted September 28, 2015 Its great to see that you Charlie still enjoying the water and active in boats. I am still plowing along on a few projects, not much to mention though as I watch "grass grow" in those wooden boat projects you know. Quote
Charlie Jones Posted September 28, 2015 Report Posted September 28, 2015 Just to show you how changeable the weather has been, here's a vid shot in the same place a week earlier. We did get some wind later on  Quote
Joel Posted September 17, 2016 Author Report Posted September 17, 2016 Hello, Â Glad to see the board is still up and running. Still have my Weekender "Island Girl" but I haven't sailed her in two years. 1 Quote
Greg Luckett Posted October 24, 2016 Report Posted October 24, 2016 Hi Joel, Wow, another year gone by. Â I came very close to building a Weekender, bought the plan set, then decided I wanted something bigger. I am planning to build a Princess Sharpie 26 if I can swing the resources and funding. Â If I am not being too nosy, why haven't your been sailing your Weekender? Quote
Joel Posted November 20, 2016 Author Report Posted November 20, 2016 Hi Greg, Good to hear from you. The Weekender is still sitting on the side of the garage. My wife had some health issues last year and it kind of threw us off the track for a while. Things are good right now and I hope to get out next season. The only problem with the boat right now is the motor. (Honda 2hp) I need to rebuild the carb again, it gets gunked up more than any motor I ever owned.  joel 1 Quote
Charlie Jones Posted December 3, 2016 Report Posted December 3, 2016 OK, one last entry. Here's a shot of Tehani just off the ICW on a trip down to Port Aransas. Â 1 Quote
Greg Luckett Posted December 3, 2016 Report Posted December 3, 2016 Charlie, that is a really good picture. It would look good in a frame on your wall. Quote
Charlie Jones Posted December 4, 2016 Report Posted December 4, 2016 Greg, it was so still, you could see details of the engine, up in the motor well in the reflection. And you know my house- it's an A-Frame.. No place to HANG a picture Quote
Greg Luckett Posted December 5, 2016 Report Posted December 5, 2016 Too bad Charlie. Maybe in the shop? Quote
