Aethyr Posted April 17, 2012 Posted April 17, 2012 Apparently they are deadly, who knew? http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-17736292 Quote
Kudzu Posted April 17, 2012 Posted April 17, 2012 I started to post this but I have been reading some other articles on this and decided to wait. From what I have gathered it appears there are some other factors but these are not confirmed. Improper clothing, such as bulking work clothes and possibly work boots.Hard to swim in and can weigh you down. It appears he may not have been wearing a PFD either. Then someone said the water was still cold in that area, so cold water shock may have been a factor. I hate anyone lost their life but sounds like the Swan was just a small part of it to me. Quote
paxtonm Posted April 17, 2012 Posted April 17, 2012 Unless I'm mistaken, a mute swan drowned a guy in the Boston area some years ago. They are very aggressive in defending their turf while nesting. As non-natives to North America, the fewer mute swans in the U.S. the better, in my book. Quote
Hirilonde Posted April 17, 2012 Posted April 17, 2012 You never know what to believe some times reading news. But swans can definitely be nasty. And if protecting a nest and young can you really blame them? Quote
