Voted lurker despite my propensity for asking questions as I haven't bought plans yet.  I'm living vicariously by reading about other people building their boats, while I putter with small woodworking projects.

The best I could do was "finishing touches time" since I put the boat in the water before it was finished.  Now I will be "finishing" the boat forever.

Well, lessee- I spent two nights aboard our boat, albeit in the marina, instead of anchored out ( Thursday and Friday are our weekends) one night of which we had winds blowing 35, gusting 44.

Two days working on installing a refrigeration unit and quarter berth flat in a boat for a customer here at the house

Three days working at a boatyard 60 miles south of here, on a Pearson Vangard 32 that Graham Byrnes got me involved with.

One day chasing parts for our car and truck- found a used rear bumper for the car ( Hurricane Ike casualty) and a new wheel for the truck (rusted spot causing a leak) plus arranged for some welding on a table base for the above Vangard.

And one entire evening working very very hard on nothing. In fact, we had so much nothing to do that evening that it took us til 1500 the next afternoon to finish it up.. Then we were SO tired from doing all that nothing, that we both took a long nap. ;D

You are missing an option on your poll.  Over time, I have finished and launched 7 boats: 1 pocket cruiser, 1 summer breeze, 1 flying mouse/cartop carrier, 1 C12 "Little Gem", 1 12' dory of my own design "Plum Crazy", and most recently 2 mouseboats for the kids.  So, I went ahead and checked finished boat and on the water.  Of these boats, I still have Little Gem, Plum Crazy, and the 2 mouseboats.

The other option I could have checked is that I have plans but haven't started building.  I have several sets of plans some of which I have decided I won't build.  However, my running favorite right now is the Chincoteague skiff of 16' long.  I want the extra 4' over Little Gem for some additional stretching out space but the 16' skiff is still a V bottom which I have found exceptional for dealing with powerboat chop on a light-wind day.  Not only is this perfect for where I sail but the V bottom also gives better handling including tracking.  Downside is the 13" draft with board up and drying out at an angle both of which are a little less desirable for my preferred small-boat cruising grounds in western Florida.

If people are looking for plans, I bought but will not be building Welsford's Sweet Pea and Mickalaki's FatCat2 and Normsboat.  I also have plans for an outboard boat from bateau.com called the classic 16 that I won't be building either.  Drop me a line if interested.  Heck, I might throw them into the pot as prizes for the Florida 120....

I'm rigging and attaching finished wood components.  Probably won't see the water until next spring except on the ferry ride to go visit it over the winter.

Konrad I think I made another mistake this weekend.  I slept in the unfinished boat tent.  Does that mean I'll never finish the tent now?

Well Ken any day on the water in an unfinished boat, and sleeping in an unfinished tent beats the altenative of work though.

In fiberglass hell on the current one.....a nesting spindrift. 

Have the plans and waiting to start a 27 ft version of Tom Lathrop's Bluejacket for the next build.  Business has kinda slowed recently (go figure!) so I was reluctant to  make the substantial $ outlay for the plywood all at once.  Because I am having it shipped, I didn't want to buy a few sheets at a time.  So the executive decision has been made to sell my Harley Road King to finance the hull.  It's one of those not having your cake and eating it too issues.  I decided to build the spindrift while preparing for the bigger build having finished the others I had going. 

Also on the agenda are a daysailer in the 17 to 20ft range and a fishing skiff in the 15 to 17 ft range.  I am leaning toward one of the core sounds for the sailboat after reading of everyone's experiences here.  I'm still tossing around compromises on the skiff.
