Oyster Posted January 22, 2008 Author Posted January 22, 2008 Neither rain, sleet, or cold weather will stand in the way of progress. I have the rubrails installed and rough sanded. These shots show the shape that has simular traits to the dory hulls. I installed the double sided flared copper tubes inlaying it in epoxy which gives me a clean area for the painter. Sine we ended up with a green hull, I also changed the colors of the decals for the name and the number boards to reflect the color coordinated look. Quote
Oyster Posted January 22, 2008 Author Posted January 22, 2008 On the larger hull I have the patterns made for the first plank and the well framing roughed in place. I make this out of the luan and then transfer the shapes to the good stuff since its easier to handle and refine at the chines. In all of these hulls, engines dictates and must be addressed early on with the cowling deminisions so it will turn and work properly. Again, the framing must be square and level coming off the existing bottom framing. Quote

Oh - I forgot it's always 72 at your place It took me over an hour to thaw a frozen parking brake cable so I could get to work this morning - I thought I'd waken up in Michigan. I even saw some of that crusty shiny stuff covering the lake on the way to work. What's it called again? Ayes, Eyes, ICE! Oyster Posted January 27, 2008 Author Posted January 27, 2008 Well I will bump my own thread to post several updates. The well components consists of layers woven together, stiffening the corners that basically are free floating inside. I have also installed the bottom batten which stiffens the bottom. Now its ready for the plywood. I leave the transom loose and just place it in place for the planking, so I can continue varnishing the wooden stern veneers, since I can apply more varnish and has a flat surface making it easier. I got the bow deck primed and the a coat on the wooden rails and trim on the little guy. Quote

This has rendered the context of my thread here and several older ones on another forum useless. The internet has been for a long time a hostile enviroment. But geewizz boat related items should be at the bottom of the lists of things being assaulted. With the internet being so vast and diverse in electronic imaging, and this not being of national security, I will move along, got too much to do before springtime which constitutes playtime. The last time this happened, I think several forums could have been spared a bunch of grief if I could have received some help from that administrator. I don't know and just shooting from the hip, only speculating at this point. But of course we know that was not going to happen. This time the album was deleted.
