Real winter finally arrived

About 16 inches that came overnight. Thankfully, most is now off the roads. Hoping for 50's by the weekend to get rid of the rest of it.

I like John's version better, but don't want to paint my nails or shave my legs. I do shave my left arm, but that is just to test if the chisel is sharp.

Blame forcasters (we all know them there), on the 11 they done changed they'er forcast. This morn'en t'was 36, the high 58 and are now calling for a freez warning (plus chill facter) for saturday. But hey, give it a few days and........... back to sunning the feet. :wink:

(Anybody got a winter cap I could barrow for a few days?)

Relax John, Mt. Dora will not even drop into the high 30's early Saturday morning. Including a wind chill, this will not get close to freezing. It will be in the 50's before 10 in the morning. Come Monday it'll be mid 70's and by Wednesday 80. We got it good, compared to the poor suffering souls further north. Yes, it was cold yesterday, though I still managed to epoxy a transom skin back on a 'glass runabout, working outside. I tossed one of those hot oil type heaters next to the transom and tented the old girl. It was near 90 for several hours in there. Today, I got three layers of cloth built up in the transom cutout seams, before the arthritis kicked in and I called it a day. I even used a slow hardener, so I could get all three layers down with a chemical bond, then the heater and the tent again. Tomorrow's high will be 67, which is a little chilly for us, but damn balmy for most of the builders here. Tomorrow, we'll see the shuttle blast off at night, which is always a cool thing.

Sorry for the hijack, I used to live in Port Charlotte Fla. on the south west coast, And I remember seeing the shuttle launch from my back yard in broad daylight, That was pretty awsome. Yeah we were in the teens up here in S.C. last night, should warm up by next week though to the 60's (balmy) .

Most of your guys are not living right. Its always warm even in the winter season with no coal buring or fossil fuel using equipment. I have my own nuclear reactor that generates a steamy 98.6 making it nice and warm and sunny around me everyday.

Very good points. Hmmm, now what to do with the excess blood, time not spent dodging the wasps? I suppose the fire building and hot toddies should work.

Hmmmm.

38 at 6:02AM, felt like.............., 58 at 11:30AM and sunny bright blue skies. Must be because I live up here on the mountain (ELEV.144ft.). :roll:

Shuttle only has 30% chance of lift-off. That there weather thing, again. Sure wish they could fly, nothing like see a night flight. The colors are unreal and then to see the shuttle shoot out the top is just plane awsume. At least that's what I get to see from up here on the mountain (:roll:) 60 miles away.

Hyjack for sure. 8) Never let any weather stand in the way of a good day or two of work. I told my wife I would be glad to do any honeydo project that she had for me as long as it was wood related. Well did I ever step in it for sure. Mahogany flooring is the order of the day. Is it sprinttime yet?

The weather has been much better here lately, often in the high 40s or even low 50s and the snow is gone. The Old Farmers Almanac predicted this sort of weather for us here. Guess they were right.

I would very much enjoy being in VI right now, or year round.

My wife applied for a job there last year, but we never heard a word from that hospital. Property is very, very expensive. I wonder how the average person can afford to live there?

The flooring is beautiful, Mike. Wow.

And the Virgin Islands ... I like the Carribean a lot, but I think I enjoyed the Grand Bahamas on our last cruise the most. The poverty on islands like Jamaica always bothers me because you feel you want to help somehow.

There's talk I may have to move to New Hampshire (or change jobs) in the next two years. Not sure its worth leaving my southern California climate! I would keep my house here and rent it out, since the mortgage is several hundred dollars less than the prevailing rental rates.

So, Ray, that 80 miles or so south of Lewiston makes a big difference in weather, or were you joking? Here, 30 miles from South Bend to Saint Joseph does make a big difference due to the Lake.

I have seen that sort of rain/snow line when driving home from South Bend, about 10 miles south of here it is like a wall across the land. Nice, sunny weather suddenly becomes wet and cold in the summer.

When driving from Kalamazoo there is a point about half way where the temperatures will change in a quarter mile or so of about 15 to 20 degrees. In the summer, it gets cooler, in the winter it gets warmer.

Large bodies of water definitely affect the weather. Have you read, "The White Hurricane"?

I like Portsmouth, and even some of the properties along Great Bay (I guess that's actually in Exeter). Rents are a bit cheaper than out here. If we got a place close enough to the water, I would bring the Potter out.
