It came to me that a flat bottom on an otherwise vee bottomed (that sounds weird...look at the picture ) tender might be a desirable thing...for beaching etc. AnyHoo...if you folks who use tenders could take a peek at it and give me your opinions I would appreciate it. lewisboats Posted November 7, 2006 Author Posted November 7, 2006 The idea is to create the hull using standard S&G plotted panels...a regular Vee bottom, only tabbing the bottom vee with a few fillets to keep the shape. Fillet and tape the sides to the bottom panels then line off the football (a straight line on each side of the bottom panels) then break out the sawzall or jig saw and cut it out. Set the boat on your sheet of bottom ply and draw out the shape then cut out a bit bigger and trim to fit. The way I would draw the line is to run a stick with a pencil attached along a plank that is set to the same level as the line, allowing the stick to slide back and forth as it traces the line along the curve of the hull. lewisboats Posted November 8, 2006 Author Posted November 8, 2006 Yes indeed, traditional methods have their place but wire ties and googe can often produce amazing results that are difficult to reproduce using more conventional methods. Here is something else that lends itself to ties and googe. This one might actually be built as I am talking with the prospective builder now. I'm currently working on the offsets for the panels. This one even has a real name...Corsair (to me it sorta looks like a Vietnam era A-7 Corsair fighter). Steve Quote
