Belhaven dry fit cabin

Heres a few pictures of the cabin dry fitting. Also the deck is down and screw holes filled. I have removed them to fiberglass and coat the inside. The deck is finished on the inside. After dry fitting it I marked all of the beams etc. Then taped off the glue areas and painted the inside. After two coats of paint we glued up the beams and other glue points and reinstalled the deck. It worked very nice.

You are going to have a very nice boat when you get done. Isn't progress exciting. I have not had time to move my cs17 forward much since winter has come along. I am still hoping for a spring launch.

I have really enjoyed watching the progress on your boat Scott.

The house bits are really giving some perspective to the whole.

I am just wondering what the treatment is in the boxed in area that includes the mizzen mast? A bridge deck? An area accessed from inside?

I have looked carefully at all your framed in areas aft of the house and can't quite figure out how that is going to work.

Excuse me if this is a dumb question and the answer is obvious.

I also checked on the Belhaven page and the answer doesn't jump out at me.

Tim all of the boxed in areas are seats. It really makes the cockpit area big. It also adds a lot of room in the cabin. I don't know the correct term , but one of the berths run under the cockpit seat. On the other side part of the gally runs under. And in the center is room for storage and a portable head.

I got the cabin installed this week, it is fiberglassed and sanded. I'll try to get the beams and hatchs framed in next.

Kidd hope you make your launch goal. I am blessed to have a heated shop in the winter or I would not be getting anything done.

OK. I get it, I think.

So then the 'seats' in the cockpit will be at side deck level?. Just like a Hartley? Will you then have a coaming for back support?

If this is how it goes, then there will be lots of added room below.

This would also mean then that there will be a substantial 'step down' from the bridge deck into the cabin of the boat.

There is a cockpit coaming for a backrest and what ever else a coaming is for.

Speaking of hartleys, I almost ordered plans for one. After I came across Grahams Princess's I change my mine. The funny thing is I ended up with the Belhaven.

The Hartleys have been around a long time. They are pretty well proven, but I think they are much more popular Down Under.

As for a launch date, maybe this summer or fall.

Scott, thanks for the update. It's been an while and I was just wondering the other day how it was coming along. Really making progress. It is looking beautiful (don't know that I like the color scheme on the sides though )
