Ken Posted September 13, 2004 Posted September 13, 2004 Well, I guess I'll soon find out if I am really a small-boat sailor or if I just like woodworking. I had a great Sunday afternoon sailing it in the back yard on the trailer - no turtles! Now just to get it in the water for the inaugural christening! A few small details like naming the silly thing, and also getting it registered etc. but other than that we're ready! Ken Posted September 14, 2004 Author Posted September 14, 2004 Greg:It is a weekender Stump: I made the oar which was patterned after an oriental "Yuloh" - a 10 footer - just have to figure how to transport it when on the road. Found a great piece of old growth fir that had about 18 rings/inch - nice and straight and I cut it so it has a wow in it. Jan: The sails are polytarp from Dave Gray - and would highly recommend them ( if you take recommendations from someone about sails that he hasn't even used yet). But a great guy, complete kits and easy directions. I'll be working throughout the week so maybe a little water closer to the weekend - I would rather have the maiden voyage with water below the boat rather than coming down from above, but in the PNW that may not be a reality.
