Scott Dunsworth Posted February 11, 2004 Posted February 11, 2004 I did a little better on epoxy on the sides than I did on the bottom. It took right at 200 oz. to wet it out and two more coats. Got started laminating the keel. Hope to get along a good bit tomorrow. Here are a few pictures of the hull. Still have to sand it a bit. It looks like some fine work from this angle. Was that a typo, or did you really use 200 oz. of epoxy? Quote

I am going to try to keep most of the transom, the cabin sides, trim and the cockpit floor bright. The boat will be shedded most of the time. So I am hoping that about 12 coats of a good varnish will keep them nice. John I don't know about the masts yet. I keep going from one to the other. It will probably come down to the time of year when I am ready for them. If its March of 2005 You can bet they will be aluminum. If its going into the winter they could turn out wood or an combination. Hope she turns out like she has in my dreams. I want to get her published in the new launchs in woodenboat. To maybe get the Belhaven some more exposure. Scott Quote

In the second picture, we are looking at the hull from behind the transom. It appears the centerboard is not aligned with the centerline. I suspect it is an optical illusion, but it got my attention. Is it, or isn't it? I'm sure it is built as the plans indicate, as you are doing an excellent job. Thanks for sharing the pictures with us. Steve Day Posted February 17, 2004 Posted February 17, 2004 I know it is off-center and it fits quite neatly in front of the galley area. I think that is one of the slicker design aspects of the Belhaven. I was looking at the picture and thinking that the one end of the slot looked like it was further away from the keel than the other.
