Oyster Posted May 22 Report Posted May 22 He lived a full and exciting life, filled with a wide range of adventures and in his off hours projects that were generated by his creative juices to build stuff from wood. He would build the prettiest maple mirrors and hand made knives in his spare time, that he would give away as gifts when not thinking about his passion for boats and boat projects. Smooth sailing sir. There is a great article in Town Dock of his full life. https://towndock.net/news/tom-lathrop Quote
Hirilonde Posted May 22 Report Posted May 22 He was a great contributor to this forum. It was his concept that became my favorite B&B design, the Lapwing. He will be missed and remembered. Quote
mkstocks Posted May 23 Report Posted May 23 I studied his designs, but never met him. Thank you for posting the link to the article. He was 90 when it was written: "When most people reach their late 60s, they slow down. Not Tom. He designed and built a 24’ boat." If I had had the opportunity to meet Tom in his 90s, I would have asked him: "what now would you want to tell your 60-year-old self, or tell to anyone in his early 60s?" Open invitation to those of you who are well beyond your early 60s: how would you answer? Quote
