Here are some pictures of the centerboard and the trunk sides. The centerboard is made from Ash and Walnut. The Ash is from a tree I cut down and the Walnut came from a tree my son cut down from his backyard. One of the members of the woodworkers guild I belong to has a sawmill and cut them into boards for me. It's been stacked and drying in my basement for @ a year. Rod, Good looking oars. A good idea with rocks. Hopefully I won't have to use oars too much, but you never know.

Good looking boat. Just curious, what are you going to use for an engine? There is a Kubota mower where I work that isn't used anymore, ( it was rolled and bent the mower deck). It has a 24 h.p.? diesel,( don't know if it's big enough for what you're doing). It runs as far as I know. I think it could be picked up pretty reasonable. I don't know what all it would take to adapt to marine. At one time I was thinking about building a mini-tug, it would be perfect for that, but I'm building a CS17 so won't be needing it.

Thanks for all the suggestions on the rope trick. Sounds like it's the best way to go. I will get some double braided and give it a try. Randy

Tom, I don't have a crystal ball, and I do buy insurance, sooo...... Charlie, Most lakes around here the bottoms are mud with a few trees. Looks like I will be fiberglassing. What's this trick of a poly rope and how big is the rope? Randy

I have finished building the centerboard. The plans say that it's best to fiberglass the inside of the trunk and the centerboard. Is it necessary to fiberglass the centerboard even if quarter sawn wood is used instead of plywood?

Ray, Your idea of warming up pump turning crystals back to liquid made sense. I ended up putting the pump on a piece of aluminum foil in the oven(turned off after warming up, cool enough to touch metal rack), pump works fine now. Thanks, Randy

Now another problem. The pump on the resin is stuck(plugged). What's the best way to clean it?

I keep my epoxy in the garage. It doesn't freeze, but it does get close. The bottom 1" of two unopened part A one gallon containers have become hard. I think I read somewhere on this forum that the epoxy can be softened up. Is that right?? Thanks in advance, Randy

Rod, Thanks for the pictures. I don't know why I was having so much trouble figuring this out. What is the purpose of the curve on the front of the CB trunk? Is it just for looks? Randy

I'm done building Christmas presents and it has cooled off(it was 4 degrees this morning), guess it's time to start working on the boat again. I'm getting ready to build the CB trunk and probably making it harder than it really is. I'm a little confused. Does someone have a closeup picture they could send or know where one is? Our visit was probably just a one time visit, but thanks for the offer. There were several sailboats out on the water when we were there, looked like a great place to sail. We also went to the Mazurian lakes. There must have been 200 sailboats on the water the day we were there. I've never seen so many sailboats on the water at one time. Beautiful country, wish there were lakes like that around here. Have fun sailing, I'm still building my boat.

I don't know the answer to your question, but my wife and I were just in Gdansk on vacation two weeks ago. I found it interesting that you are from Poland and on this website. By the way, we had a great two weeks in Poland. Pretty country, nice people, and of course lots of history. And, your boat looks nice too!!

Norman, Looks nice. Just remember when you're sailing, the same hands that relieve other people's tension also built a boat to relieve your tension. Good job!!

Ditto on all that can be learned from this site. I've learned a lot from reading and received a lot of help from the people on here. My first attempt at building a boat is a CS17, so far so good. Good luck. Also, your helper has a pretty intense look, very determined!!

Greg, When was the mess-about at Lake Pepin, and is it held around the same time each year? That's only one state away, not too bad. My wife and I took a motorcycle trip along "the great river road" two years ago this September. Lake Pepin looked like a pretty nice lake to go sailing on. It's hard to imagine it's the Mississippi river.

Wes, By the time you get your seat cushions and all your other "stuff" in the boat you probably won't notice the little flaws that you say you have. Looks good from here.
