Didn't have one myself. Jake and I actually made these standing in West Marine in their rigging section. They have the swagging tool and cutters and all fittings necessary for this and were more than willing to let us use their facility.

Knut, I really haven't started shopping for the gadgets yet, but does the software come with the GPS or is it a seperate item you bought? Also, what is the brand of the GPS unit/software? I like that you can view your course after the fact. Is it recording positions on a timed basis or per your input for position?

Newly made mast hoops, and again, another thanks to Capt. Jake for the beads. Now he only has enough left for 30 more hoops.

Actually there's qutie a few laying around. Just trying to figure all the trouble I can get myself into with laminations from all the strips!

... like fillets, epoxying cockpit and forepeak. Here's first hardwood on the boat, courtesy of Capt. Jake. He graciously let me clean some of his scraps out of his garage. Finally got wheels on the cradle so now the boat she's a mobile.

Tyler, the boats looking good. Glad to see you have pics coming again. Follow Barry's comment, reread it several times so all makes sense and I'm sure you'll get your twist worked out just fine. Go at it patiently and pull yourself up a moaning chair to take a breather now and then. Just sit back for a minute and look at it. Otherwise your progress is great. You still have lots of help with you?

I had the fortune of spending the better part of this afternoon visiting Capt. Jake and his Weekender. This was the first completed Weekender I have seen in real life and it was a delight. Jake did an outstanding job! It's a beautiful boat. I was able to grab a few ideas towards steps I will be facing in the near future with mine, see differences between his modifications and mine and see ideas from other builders that Jake incorporated into working solutions. Rigging - don't let Jake fool you in to thinking I was of any help in figuring out his rigging. As a newbie to sailing, I smiled and nodded a lot and was of most help pulling the line to raise the mast. I left looking forward to the day I roll mine out on the trailer and place her in the water, and perhaps run into Jake as I round the point towards Olympia. Thanks Jake.

Planning a few things out here... How many of you have glassed the cockpit ( & how much - the floor, floor & seats, etc.) vs. those who have not? Is there a benefit to glassing all or a portion of the cockpit vs. just applying epoxy & paint? I value all comments and suggestions. Thanks guys & gals.

Ed, glad to hear you had another successful and pleasurable day. I really enjoy reading posts of folks' experiences sailing these boats. I too have never sailed and am inspired to hear how quickly your confidence grew with only a couple of days sailing. I look forward to getting mine wet. As others have said, and I know it easier said than done, but if you can, grab some shots while you're out. Would love to see what you are experiencing!

An absolute beauty. Question after studying the photos - There is a line running from the tip of the bow sprit down to the stem. I have seen a couple of Weekender builders do this as well. I assume that this is in opposition to the forestay, but when is it neccessary?

P.S. - Just finished new database program at work. They told me to take next three days off in conjunction with weekend, with pay and not against vacation time. Said go home, rest and work on your boat! Woohoo!

Frank, I appreciate your work on this forum. Problems with computers are expected and happen, but you do outstanding work at keeping it going and keeping us informed. Hats off to you!
