Andrew, Per plans the hull sides do extend above the deck for rubrail/toerail attahcment, but yet again, I am taking another route here. Barry nailed the gap at the chine issue. Jake did this also on his boat as he mentions and to be honest, under the fiberglass, epoxy and paint, those fillets look absolutely great. I think I first saw this when watching construction of Knut's boat. Tyler, not sure what you mean by a lip extending over the deck. And colors, I still can't decide. Suppose I should start trying to figure that out, hey? :wink:

Tyler, overhang is typical, the layout of the hull sides per plans is approximate. You will have overhang. Like Barry mentioned in my last thread, the key is that you have enough material at the top for rub rail/toe kick attachment. The triangle is common, you'll note in your plans that the Stevenson's do mention needing to cut small triangles from scrap. I needed a small piece at the bow.

Hey, Jake's back, hope all went well for you. Liking the new digs? Will note the new email. Barry, I kind of figured it may have been the epoxy dust, the stuff is so fine, it seems to go everywhere. Wasn't overly surprised, just disappointed as I needed it. I told the wife when I bought it and they offered me the extended plan that if it made it through the first year I would buy stock in the company! Andrew, the bondo fillet is not necessarily a mod, but have seen it done by others and thought it a good idea to assist water run off.

It looks like a boat! I am so excited now. Cabin roof should be ready for install in another day or so. Burned up my darned ROS today too! :x :x Only 4 months old. Told 'em I didn't need that 2nd year warranty! Didn't even make it through the standard 1st year period. At least replacement is free.

Now you're talking! Ok, renaming the boat Graceland! That would work perfect as I am going through a fun little Mambo & Samba phase right now! Fun music to build to! If you are referring to a finish Tyler, all the interior, except for bright work will be painted with Porch & Deck latex (white). Once the roof is on for final, all the exterior edges will be routed with a roundover bit. Will probably begin fitting hull sides tomorrow.

Ballroom! Perfect idea! Actually I was considering a nice mural on the ceiling too. Red velvet drapes? Barry, I did just that. I marked off the rafters, and first coat of epoxy is on the bottom side as they are on sawhorses. Once done with all epoxy, I will tape off contact areas and paint while its still flat and easy to get to. That I learned from you wise ones that have gone before me (bowing down humbly and chanting "I'm not worthy") Tyler, thanks, but the boat show was just a poke. Show's next weekend, although Barry's idea was great of taking it 'as is', but I can't get it there. Maybe I'll put her in the show next year. Right now I am still hoping for a summer launching. I know, I know... I can get a bit carried away at times. I am considering a tinted glass for the side portlights, clear for the front two (part of thinking for front two was added visibility forward). The skylight concept was just for asthetics. Saw a couple of Devlin's boats down at the Olympia marina and he has placed skylights on his and I find them very attractive from the outside. Jake can carry the torch for sanding, I'll pick up the torch for most holes in the cabin!

Sounds like you got a pretty good deal Pat, even with the extra work. I'll hunt a deal up somewhere along the line here I'm sure. Actually heading out to our home on the point here, I've noted a few homes along the way with a pretty dilapidated (sp?) boat on a trailer, all look in the 18'-24' range. Perhaps soon, I may stop in at a couple and make them an offer on the works.

Good plan. I'll get some good ideas from a couple dealers then I can watch the ads closer. I have time anyways. Still have to figure out what to tow it with also! Right now stuck with a PT Cruiser or 65 Olds Cutlass. Of course the marina is only 3 blocks away. Now, if I could find a used trailer AND a used garden tractor... a sawz all and some duct tape... (too much Red Green!)
