Yes you want to see the weave when you first squeege the glass. Using excessive epoxy at first will be a waste and the glass will try and float on you. After about 3 to4hrs you can roll on more epoxy to fill the weave. Your better off with thin coat and wait another 3hrs. Then another thin coat and so on. This will make it so you don't have runs to clean up and no sanding. But you will be fooling with it ALL day. I glass the inside of my panels before the boat is put together too. It keeps you from bending over so much and panels laid flat are the easiest to glass.

Mike Henderson Sounds like you need to move the axle to get the weight right on the hitch and move the boat back to give it support. Of corse I don't have a clue as to what it looks like and if it is supported well now.

For Scarfing things like spray rails, gun wales and in wales you can't beat Tracy O'Brian's little jig. it's fast amd acurate every time. I've built one and as usual I improved on it a little. The improvement was a substition of the key piece that rides in the slot of the tablesaw. he say's to use a piece of hardwood, but it will still shrink and swell. It's a adjustable alum piece that you get from the woodworking supply house's for building jigs. Is this on a wooden boat? Nidacore is the material of choice. Dawson Boats in Pensacola uses Nidacore vacuum bagged with a layer of 1.5oz mat and a layer of 1808 on it. You get a lite weight top that is super strong. He's had them tested in a local lab. This would reduce the top weight of the boat, where you don't want it. I do vacuum bagging at the house and have a project going right now. However it's on a smaller scale than your talking about. It's going to take a pump with a bunch of cfm to pull that size panel down. I have a 1/3hp aprox 3 to 3.5 cfm pump. I had a hard time doing my hardtop which was pulled down over a cambered form. Thanks to Bill Paxton's exact description it has gotten better. Norton Internet Security was the culprit for me, too. I finally went into "Privacy Control" and had to turn off "Enable Browser Privacy." This is a function that prevents web sites from knowing the last web site you visited. Once I made this change I could see all the graphics and emoticons. I still gotta play with it a little more, maybe a Refresh will do it.

Good deal. This is the only site that takes forever to load and all I see are box's, no pix's. I'm on a cable modum so speed on my end is not the problem. I didn't tell you today, but when you get ready to stich & glue another boat. I've got some tricks that make it go much faster and cleaner.

At the risk of sounding like a Know It All. Senstitization is a real thing. I know people that are that way at least to certain brands of epoxy. Below is so cheap from Harbor Freight that you can't afford not to have them. 1 36118-4rzh GLOVES-LATEX LG-100PC 3.37 I undestand you not wanting to use them if your using those floppy food prep one's. They would be a PITA. I buy these gloves 10 box's at a time. I also keep 1 box of Nitel gloves for special stuff. The are $10 per box of 100.
