I guess it is all a matter of what this section of the forum is designated for.  I have always thought of it being for members to sell their boats or excess materials, hardware and such.  But in the end Frank decides.  Regardless of what gets posted here the only thing that might get my attention for purchase is material and hardware.

If the ads where more forum users specific, I could see a real benefit, say used gear, maybe some deals on new stuff, etc. The question than becomes, what is forum user specific, which is a tough one to call. I've seen this guy spam other sites, with similar discretion, so . . .

Yeah, it would be spam on most forums. I'm still on the fence, because they are so commercial in nature. But they do provide some links out to a boating related site, so there might be some benefit to us as well.
