Help on how to post pictures

Can anyone tell me how to post pictures when replying to someone's elses post? I couldn't figure it out.

Your photos have to be on web somewhere. Such as your website or one of the free hosting sites. Then click on the photo button and enter the URL that tells the computer where on the internet that photo is.

Steve, if you click the "More Reply Options" button at the bottom right of the you will go to the full editor with the "Attach Files" dialog box at the bottom. See the picture for the button:

The software does it's best to try and hide things from you.

I can't figure out why the images don't show up when you first upload them; you need to click "Preview" before they show up so you can insert them into the body of the post. There are like a gazillion settings with this software, but it does do a good job of keeping the spammers away, so I'm keeping it!

I should not have told you it was the software doing it! You would have thought I was some kind of Anti-Spam King!

Every now and then one gets through, but the software does a good job of making it easier for people to register (they just respond to an email and they are in) and keeping out spammers. We do get dozens of spammers, but they are caught during the registration process automatically.

The short time I ran my own I was absolutely amazed at the time I spent dealing with spammers trying to register. I know what a hassle it can be. And with just 2 days of creating my blog they had found it. Amazes me.

On your Wordpress blog, look into using something like Disqus as your commenting system. It solved my comment spam issues on my blogs.

I noticed that there seems to be a limit of 1MB for attachments. This isn't really very much is it? Maybe 1 or 2 pics?

Anyway to up this limit at all?

I don't know but just make sure to reduce the size of the photos to 800-900 pixels wide and that will save a lot of bandwidth.

Hmmm ... I can't seem to find a limit for the total size of attachments in a post. I upped it to 50 images maximum per post a while ago, and the text can be up to 1024k. I'll have to ask and see where they hide the option for limiting the cumulative size of the images.

Maximum image size is 1600 x 1200, and the software then resizes it to 300 x 300 maximum for the thumbnails. Larger images will be reduced to the 1600 x 1200 size.

I found the settings ... the new limit is 5 MB per post, with no more than 50 images per post. The total limit per user is 75 MB.

Setting them higher might slow things down quite a bit when the pages load.

Yeah, 50 images per post may be a bit much; you'll run into the 5 MB limitation first. If we get some really slow loading pages because of it, I'll have to revisit the settings.
