melomendoza Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 Hello everyone! I am from the Manila, Philippines, and have been trying to get in touch with B&B without much success. My first email was responded to after about a month and I made a follow-up by no response yet. I am afraid they are not getting my emails. Here is my email to Carla last Oct. 6, 2011: "Dear Carla, Thank you for your response. I hope everything is alright now after that hurricane. I am ordering the NESTING Spindrift 11N and would like to use paypal. However, I still want to know how you will send the plans to me and what support I can expect from your company. Best regards, Melo" I will appreciate any help from you guys as I am eager to start building my dinghy. Best Regards, Melo Quote
Oyster Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 The past month has been really hectic in their part of the world with Hurricane Irene and the damage and cleanup that followed in their area. Internet and general service has been down and some of the issues that you speak about has been a problem for everyone. Its a remote area where goods and services to get back to normal is somewhat of a problem these days. Please tell me what I can do to help and the best way to handle shipping in your part of the world and I will do what I can to relay the messages. melomendoza Posted October 18, 2011 Author Posted October 18, 2011 Thank you for your response. That is sad to know. I hope every thing is well with them. I just want to know it they can ship the plans to Manila, Philippines and what support I can get when I start building the boat. If I encounter any trouble in the construction, can I contact them for guidance. Melo Quote
PinoyPiper Posted October 18, 2011 Posted October 18, 2011 I can help you... I'm from Manila too and i've built an s11n 6 years ago I don't think B&B takes paypal but you can pay with your credit card as i've done with my previous orders. I suggest logging in to http://www.pinoyboats.org/forum/. Loads of "localized" info there for you. Quote
JimHuston Posted October 18, 2011 Posted October 18, 2011 Hello, I am actually having the same problem. After much internal debate and hand wringing over the PS22 or 26 I finally decided to build the 22. I ordered plans shortly after the hurricane. I certainly understand the difficulties they are experiencing. In speaking with Carla two weeks ago I learned that they lost their plans printer in all of the flooding and were still waiting on a new one. I replied asking for a list of materials...specifically plywood and epoxy...thought I would get a jump on assembling supplies. I have not heard back since. I suspect that they are having internet/email service problems...understandable considering the mess that Irene made. Anyway, I was wondering if anyone here can help me out with that supply list for the PS 22? Having built a sailboat (penobscott 14) and several kayaks, I know how important it is to get the "ducks in a row."....and my shop looks too darn empty right now! Thanks Quote
Oyster Posted October 18, 2011 Posted October 18, 2011 If they do not check in tonight, I will follow up with them tommorrow. Their big workshed which is several hundred feet from the water in the creek also got flooded with water up into the CNC building too. I can't answer for them. But its my understanding that they are a bit overwhelmed and pulled in several directions with committment at some of the seasonal events. These events are also a way to share their products but also a real way to interact with their client base too, which is really an important part of their committment after the sale too. Quote
Designer Posted October 19, 2011 Posted October 19, 2011 I am really sorry that there are folks out there that have had trouble contacting us. Carla was away all last week at a conference and is often away from the office for a few hours here and there. I am at the shop all of the time so sometimes there is no one minding the store. We try to answer all emails but we get a lot and some seem to slip by our radar. The most frustrating emails are the ones that get kicked back when the provider's security setting thinks that we are spam or worse. There is no way for us to contact the e-mailer to explain that we are trying to answer them. We have has a couple of those recently. If you can stand it just keep trying, we are not avoiding anyone. By the way the big plotter still has not arrived. Quote
melomendoza Posted October 20, 2011 Author Posted October 20, 2011 To B&B: I understand what you may be going through after Irene. It happened to us also here in the Philippines -- the effects of global warming is already here. I will be waiting as I really want the S11N. Best regards. Melo Quote
