CS20 cuddy cabin / hard dodger

Another update... primered and painted the dodger interior with Systems 3 WR-LPU paint to match the rest of our boat's interior. It looks nicer with the epoxied seams hidden, brightens the interior considerably, and really makes the mahogany roof beam stand out in eye-catching contrast. Now I just have to work out the bungee hold-down system. I found some very nice, small stainless hooks on the McMaster-Carr website that should be ideal. Placed an order last night and had them on my doorstep less than 20 hours later! Super fast.

And here it is pretty well finished (except varnishing). I can't decide if I like the looks, but the bungee hold-downs work very well, and the Sponge Foam Tape I used to line the base of the dodger really cushions and grips the deck. It feels very, very secure. I may swap out the black bungees for white ones, which would be more discrete. All in all, not bad, though something about the interior doesn't quite look right to my eye.

That certainly looks slick. Great job on the temporary dodger. Did I notice a little snow on some of those pictures of the boat on the trailer? It ain't supposed to snow in Georgia.

One of these days, when I am up visiting my son in Duluth, I'm going to let you know. Perhaps we can get together to see your boat and visit a bit.

Sure, I'd be glad to have you visit. If the weather cooperates, we might even cruise up to the lake for a sail if you have time. Either way, you're always welcome to drop in.

We did get some snow here... two years in a row now, but pretty rare here in Georgia. Last year it snowed about 6 inches on the day we brought our little girl home from the hospital (Feb. 12), but it was gone the next day. That was neat. This year it snowed only about 2" but quickly turned to ice and then hung around for a week. Yuck. Being from Iowa, it always strikes me as silly how paranoid everyone is about the snow (everything in Augusta shut down for two full days this year) but then I remind myself that no one here has snow tires and some of these southern folks like to drive around on tires so bald they're more like skis. So it's probably best that they're cautious.

Then you have the fools that think they can ride at 60 - 70 mph on ice and keep things under control. My son, John, was on the Atlanta beltway in really slow traffic on a relatively clear lane and some guy went by him at a high rate of speed on the icy lane next to him. That went OK until he got to the next curve. The road curved, but he didn't. Crashed into the wall and nearly killed himself.

If we work it out right, I might bring the Rescue Minor up to cruise on a couple of the lakes up there. We'll give a shout the next time we're up that way.

I'd love a chance to see Rescue Minor up close. I followed your build pictures with interest.

Built a new 12V power station today. The old one (which you can see in some of the previous pictures) was too tall to fit inside the seats. It was handy, but the cord was visible and often in our way, and the whole thing would've disappeared during a capsize. The new one fits inside the seat locker as I had originally wanted, so now I can lock it up while traveling, keep it in the boat durin a capsize, and eliminate the visible connection cord to the GPS (the cord now runs along the inside of the seat locker). I swapped the large, heavy flooded battery for a smaller sealed AGM battery. It weighs about half as much but has 18 amp hours, so it should run the GPS for nearly 15 hours, which is plenty.
