CS15 #22 REDNECK

Greetings to all.

REDNECK  was launched yesterday on Moreton Bay, Brisbane, Australia.

The build commenced in May of this year and apart from a couple of trips touring the country, has kept me occupied since then.

I did seek advise regarding sail track some time ago and as you can see the decision was made to go with sailtracks instead of luff sleaves.

We launched in to  10-12 knots from SW which gave us a good breeze, but pretty lumpy seas with the wind against the tide in the relativey shallow waters.

Fortunately I had a crew member to take most of the spray.

I am very happy with the way the boat sailed, and looks like not much will need to be changed.

Pics look good. I'm personally not usually fond of red (or yellow :puke_left:) as a boat colour scheme but I have to say it looks good. The finish looks very nice. That's a pretty quick build. I think you made the right choice with sail tracks, especially with the local weather patterns, but others will still disagree.

Where in Moreton Bay did you launch?

I'm wondering about the name (which sometimes has some negative connotations) and if there's a story?

white and red is a nice color scheme. My son used white/red for his raceboats, his High School colors, and even had an "Annandale Atoms" sticker on them. When the school griped about him checking out early on Friday to make a long distance race trip he dragged the principal outside and said, "Look, I'm carrying the Annandale colors into battle!" Done deal - he was turned loose.

I prefer blue, but being a slacker I rarely painted my raceboats.  Proven by actual test, WEST resin goes about a season before going south - sand, recoat, test it again . . .

Beautiful CS-15. Maybe I'll have a full size one wet soon.

We launched from the Victoria Point floating pontoon, motored over to Coochiemudlo Island so that we could beach the boat on the sand and check the rigging etc away from the stink-boats before the first sail. Then it was off for a sail around the moored boats and then out towards North Stradbroke Island to see how she performed. After the crew was nice and wet we sailed over to Macleay Island to get out of the wind for a lunch stop and to dry out.  The sail back to the launching point was in a lighter breeze with less chop and very pleasant.    (have used the full names for the sake of non-locals).

Don't read too much into the boat name....  merely a whim at the time, I don't go much on "girly" names for boats.

If it offends anyone.... well what can I say...... :shock: :shock: :shock: :shock:

I've been intrigued by your model build..... don't know if I'd have to patience for that, but I am looking forward to the launch of your BLUE CS 15.

Okay, I know some didn't like the colour and some didn't like the name, but it doesn't change the fact that it is still great fun to sail.

For anyone interested here's a short video taken last week of the CS15 sailing on Moreton Bay, in Queensland, Austraila.

Ended up having too much fun and surfing away from the camera boat so really missed some of the best action.

It was the same day that cyclone Yasi crossed the coast further north doing so much damage. Fortunately the cyclone had no effect on us at the southern end of the state, although the bay is still a bit murky from the recent flooding.

That's a sharp looking boat, great job. That video is probably the best on-the-water footage of a CS that I've seen.

That is a great video. It shows just how well the boat performs and how stable it is.
