I've been playing with plastic power boats these last few years, and really haven't had anything to offer or draw from here. I did build a cradle boat for our niece, when they named their son Noah. Actually, it's a rocker boat. The way I work, I knew he'd outgrow the cradle before it was finished! I lurk in once in a great while. It's good to see the group is still going strong. I was going through all my links the other day, while tropical storm Fay was blowing outside. I came here and noticed that you were posting again. Konrad Posted August 25, 2008 Author Posted August 25, 2008 No, no mowhawk (unfortunately). Just camera angle, and the fact that (even back then in the late '90's) my hair was starting to thin a bit. I was wearing a full length spray suit and clear cycling glasses to keep the spray out of my eyes. There's a funny backstory behind that photo. I believe this was early spring 1999. It was actually big enough wind that we were double-trapped on that boat. (It was a friend's boat). "So if it was double-trap wind, why am I alone on the boat in this photo?" you ask...?? Occasionally, just as a practical joke, the guy NOT at the helm would secretly unclip and bail off the wire unannounced and jump backwards into the water, leaving the guy on the tiller (me in this case) totally surprised and positioned for iminent death and destruction as the boat pulled you up and over the top. (We were a fun bunch.) ;D Well anyway, Tom and I were doubled up on his yellow 16 and he did this to me. Just out of pure random dumb luck, I managed to save the boat this time, and didn't go over. So Tom got left in the water, and I circled around and hooked up and loaded up the mainsail and bore down right on him. He took this photo as I was trying to run him over with one of those clamshell cameras...!! Funny, no one here has invited me to a messabout in quite a number of years.... Quote

But knowing our Pathfinder and it's less-than-stellar fuel economy, it appears it would exceed $800.00 in fuel round trip. Give me till next spring, and we'll see. I'm making slow-but-steady progress getting the Vacay back in ship-shape. Thanks for the invite. Quote
