Sail Material Question

OK, let's say I get REALLY serious about this "maintenance" project, and I decide to do another set of sails..

Does anyone know what that material is (was?) that Paul J was marketing years ago?  I bought it from him, and it's been just fine.  But 9 years is still 9 years, you know?  I assume he's no longer around.  What was that stuff?  It worked well.

He made a lot of his earlier sails from white poly tarp.  I have a set of them , (main, standard jib and lapper) and they are very nicely made.  He was working with dacron in the last couple years along with the poly tarp.  Capt. Jake has a dacron set that are really well done.  And no, he is no longer in the business although that is an extremely sore subject with quite a few.

There was also a material he was using that was similar to polytarp, but had a scrim in it instead of being woven.  I think he abandoned that for use of just dacron for his last delivered sets.

Yeah, I figured it may have had a bad end.  Seems I remember it starting to go south about the time I got away from the forums years ago.  I'm just wondering about the material itself, not him or his business.

Tyvek is house wrap, vapor barrier.

You can get Tyvek in plain white, but there is a distinct disadvantage to using it.  It stretches out of shape quite quickly when used as a sail material.  As a ground cover or for rain gear it is quite effective.

It's definitely not Tyvek, I see that stuff on a weekly basis.  (I'm a construction inspector).

I *think* it was (is) some kind of heavier pvc-based tarp material with diagonal reinforcing, that gets used in the farming industry for covering large piles of hay and what not.

Their site is down for maintenance, but I'll bet that's the material that was being used.  I remember now it came from a farm supply place.

They call it barn curtain and it comes in widths up to 14+ ft. I think they said it is a 10x14 weave or something like that. Keep checking back for when they bring the site back up. Figures I'd post the link and the site would be down...how often does that happen ???

did a google and was able to access it this morning. clidk on the 5.2 oz (first picture) and then again and you will get to the above previous link page.
