Glass tape on seat tops

I've got the flotation seats and foredeck seat done on a Spindrift. In both cases there is a piece of 3/4" wood between the verticals and the seats so strenth is no problem.

But for durability reason do folks put some glass tape over these joints too or just epoxy it and paint it?

I do tape it and I think most do.

I didn't tape mine and don't really see that it needs it. It is a low strength joint compared to the hull seams. Backed up by the cleat, it is plenty strong.

I don't think anyone does it for strength. Corners just seem to easily have chunks taken out of them with everyday usage- dropping things on them etc. A rounded edge with tape is a lot more durable and very easy to do.

I didn't tape mine.  One less place to fair out the tape edges.
