Gunkee Posted March 19, 2007 Posted March 19, 2007 After a bit over 12 months my Spindrift 11 is 99.9% finished. Just waiting for Kowhai's sail from B&B and a couple of blocks then I'm ready for my next big challange, learning to sail her. But since things dont stop around here It's back to the Marksman 22 cabin boat... Alastair. Quote
Hirilonde Posted March 19, 2007 Posted March 19, 2007 Ooooh, very nice! Now you have to explain the name. Quote
Gunkee Posted March 19, 2007 Author Posted March 19, 2007 Thanks for your comment. In New Zealand the native people are Maori. In the Maori language the word for yellow is 'Kowhai' (Pronounced Ko-fi ) Quote
Garry Posted March 19, 2007 Posted March 19, 2007 Very nice job. I think you'll find she is fun to sail! Did you get the reef points in the sail? Quote
kmrmike Posted March 19, 2007 Posted March 19, 2007 Very nice job! Wish you lots of great sailing! Quote
Greg Luckett Posted March 20, 2007 Posted March 20, 2007 What an inspiring boat. As soon as the fiberglass tape gets here from B&B I expect to begin assembly of mine. Quote
Steve Day Posted March 26, 2007 Posted March 26, 2007 What nice Spindrift! You'll have a lot of fun with her. Greg - Say it isn't so! You're going to actually start your Spindrift??? Steve Quote
Joe Nelson CS#35 Posted March 26, 2007 Posted March 26, 2007 I like the bright yellow paint. The cream interior color will be easy on the eyes in bright weather. Quote
skawt Posted March 31, 2007 Posted March 31, 2007 Good morning A newby post: I have been lolling about this forum at least a year, loving the look of these boats, but I bought (a Holder 20) so I didn't have to wait 2-3 years to go sailing! I still want to build a Spindrift, but am wondering why the need for training wheels on this model? Scott Quote
Scott Dunsworth Posted April 1, 2007 Posted April 1, 2007 I LOVE the color!!!! She looks Great. Scott Quote
Gunkee Posted April 2, 2007 Author Posted April 2, 2007 Hi guys, I have used 6mm Meranti plywood for Kowhai's hull, but found it a bit heavy. So I made up this little launching trolly to make it easier to get it around. It works very well.... Alastair. Quote
